Today is the day!
Anybody really know what he has in mind?

Rumor is that the Cheeto Genius still doesn't know exactly what he is going to announce later today. He and his best-est staff were still working on it yesterday and this morning.
That is how well planned this is.

Of course, in typical Trump well thought out style, what he is doing is by EO and not by Congressional legislation. So, the next person in office can easily cancel all of the EOs lazy assed Trump signed, unless Trump flip flops on it again and cancels them himself.

And even if the tariffs stick around Trump will be dead before they have the full effect I'm guessing he is wanting...by the way, he hasn't revealed exactly what his end goal is.
I'm not sure he knows himself...He just like the word tariff.

Yep - it is like some dystopian sci fi premise.
But in real life.

The creators of project 2025 couldn't have found a better puppet than Trump.

That was the "dumbest and most economically illiterate speech I have ever heard'
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avEtMcELaPU

From the Netherlands: this is Brexit all over again. Brexit did damage, this does damage, we'll survive this, too, but it's a nightmare. Everything we've built up over decades is being wrecked by friggin' idiots.
Perhaps it's time to attack the US patent system in retaliation. Without that system, we can limit the damage somewhat by lowering costs of products. I think there's no need to play by US rules and enrich them if they break every rule in the book. Who knows, we might get out of this with a healthier, more competitive economy.

A slumping economy means less tax revenue.

A slumping economy means less corporate profits.

How are corporations supposed to invest in new factories when their bottom line is stunned by Trump's recession?

Another question, what is the metric used to measure if this is a success or not? At what point are the tariffs pulled? Recession? Great Recession 2.0? Depression?

Trump imposed tariffs or increased tariffs on more than 180 countries yesterday.

Except for one...Russia.

Go figure.

>>But I've asked multiple corporate executives in recent weeks whether companies are likely to start investing in manufacturing in the United States in response to Trump's policies, and the message has basically been: That's an unanswerable question right now. Because making those decisions requires understanding the relative costs of doing it versus not doing it, and Trump is far too unpredictable to allow for that kind of calculation.<<

Don't forget they've killed international tourism to the US and created a labor shortage problem also.
There'll be another explosion of the deficit and quantitative easing to bail out farms, businesses, and the banks.

Trump's thoughtful tariff execution included a 29% tariff on the McDonald Islands....whose main inhabitants are penguins.

Nobody knows where the amateurs at TrumpWorld got their info, or how they derived the percentages for the 180+ countries affected.

>>>>>
"In 2023, Norfolk Island exported US$655,000 (A$1.04m) worth of goods to the US, with its main export being US$413,000 (A$658,000) worth of leather footwear, according to Observatory of Economic Complexity data.

But George Plant, the administrator of Norfolk Island, disputed the data. He told the Guardian: "There are no known exports from Norfolk Island to the United States and no tariffs or known non-tariff trade barriers on goods coming to Norfolk Island."
>>>>>

Typical of Trump, they did lazy and sloppy work.
But real work requires real work, and Trump doesn't want to have anything to do with that...he just wants to wave his hand.
We have an orange toddler at the switch.
Sad.

(Bloomberg) - Roughly $2.5 trillion was erased from the S&P 500 Index on Thursday amid worries that President Donald Trump's sweeping new round of tariffs could plunge the economy into a recession.
