On a recent bus ride from MCO's parking lot to terminal, I was talking to an airline employee (don't recall which airline), who told me either Spirit or Frontier ticket agents receive commissions for extra luggage fees.

Frontier. It's not that they can just charge whatever. It's commission for enforcement of their policy for carryons. People try to game the system and just go to the gate and hope to sneak on without paying for a carryon. It's more expensive at the gate bc it slows the boarding process. Their agents get a piece for enforcement is all

I found out later that you can prepay $75 for a checked bag, however it's still an additional $75 for an oversized bag fee once you get to the the airport, bringing the total to $150. If you don't prepay for the first half, it's $180. Regardless, the agent still has to punch some keys and take your money. Also, a buddy of mine didn't get charged leaving PR the day after me, so who knows ------------------------- R I P Mama G. @Salt.And.Savagery.Fishing @Laserwolf.Laserwolf Edited: 12/09/2023 at 04:27 AM by Long Beard |

The lawsuit also alleges Frontier has a quota for charges their gate agents are expected to meet, and complains they don't print the dimensions on their sizer (like other airlines do) so a customer can measure and verify. The 0:59 example of this TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@dyanav...eo/7207574597880040750 is one egregious example. You can google for more. But I personally experienced it at BWI. It was not the (obviously legal) size of my wife's bag that delayed the check-in process; it was the gate agent going over to the sizer for every single customer she thought she'd make her commission on. And the 5 extra delays announced before boarding even began were because Frontier couldn't get their operational shit together in so many other regards.
