I am with long beard on this one.
Usually when one paddles for a wave he is now a few paddles and seconds out of position if he misses the wave and now that position gets assumed by the next person.

Caveat for beginners or he who hesitates to send it: You miss a wave too many times you will get marked and people will start to burn you assuming that you're going to miss another good wave.

If they are true surfer they will understand that no one in the lineup wants to see a good wave go unridden. Lol
