I've got ours down to a minimum with hand pulling and promotion of more desirable competitors. We quit irrigating and the plants that get pissed when we have our coastal summer mini-droughts are dying away by and by. Of course that means that the St. Augustine is about gone too and has been replaced with various sedges and basket grass, all of which go dormant in winter which means we do not have a 365 lawn. I am pretty sure that there are selective herbicides that kill dicots but not monocots that will get that stuff our of the St. Auggie but those herbicides are actually nastier than the broad spectrum herbicides like glyphosate.
