Green buttonwood has done that well on our yard for the past two years, since we put them in. Started with 10gal/ea, planted 5' apart. Shot up to 8' in less than one year. They are very tolerant to my unskilled attacks of the hedge trimmer! I keep the backyard ones, hedged 15' y'all by about 6' wide at the top. Front yard have a hedge of 6' tall by 4' wide. Heard recently they are related to the mangrove.

Simpson stopper wants to grow into a mini tree but can be trimmed into a bush. I've got two happy blollys, but Guaipira discolor is relatively slow growing. Cocoplum will eventually suffer serious freeze damage.

Clusia is tough, pretty and not messy. Full to part sun. They have multi-colored ones at Sun Harbor
