Thanks for nothing, you douche.

Why are rising electricity bills rising in Florida?

Power bills must go up, FPL says, because more people are moving to Florida, which is also the most vulnerable to hurricanes.

The Florida Public Service Commission, a state board appointed by Gov. Ron DeSantis, approved the rate hike, instead of a counterproposal from the Florida Office of Public Counsel.

Desantis hasn't done a damn thing to help insurance rates, either.

Glad he is term limited.

So it's a "reverse economy of scale"? Also known as monopoly, where you can charge the "price the traffic will bear".

This is what happens in crony capitalism. They preach free market, all the while doing everything they can to consolidate and exploit the consumer.

Marx had some relevant comments...

The average electricity rate across the U.S. is $.1607 kWh. Average Fl rate is $.1475. Prog paradise, i.e., California, is $.3063. more than double Fl rates. So, to avoid this horrible gov't, you can always move to Ca. As this show, progs are not only stupid, but are whiners.

Guaranteed 10% profit and FPL still hides its real books by making routine maintenance but look like catastrophic damage.

Suddenly Pabs wants to pay more for electricity.

Go figure.

Wrongz is in DA HOUZ!

California provides power bill subsidies through several programs, including new legislative refunds, low-income assistance programs like CARE and FERA, and federal initiatives like the Energy Savings Assistance (ESA) program and HEEHRA rebates. The state has also recently passed legislation for a $60 billion electricity bill rebate program and has an existing California Climate Credit that provides automatic discounts.
Current and recent programs

$60 Billion Electricity Bill Rebates: New legislation signed in September 2025 will provide up to $60 billion in electricity bill refunds to California families.
California Climate Credit: Eligible Californians receive automatic discounts on their utility bills twice a year.
Clean Power Alliance (CAPP): A program distributing $1 billion in federal funding to assist customers with unpaid bills from the COVID-19 pandemic period.
TECH Clean California: Provides rebates for home electrification through federally funded programs like the Home Energy and High-Efficiency Rebate Act (HEEHRA).

Low-income assistance programs

California Alternate Rates for Energy (CARE): Provides a monthly discount of 20% or more on gas and electricity bills to qualifying low-income households.
Family Electric Rate Assistance (FERA): Offers an 18% monthly discount on electricity for qualifying households with three or more people.
Energy Savings Assistance (ESA): Offers free energy efficiency upgrades for low-income households.

We "had" it good here before the state government went full corruption under one party rule.

But this is what the mouth breathing red hats brought upon themselves. When the rain falls, it doesn't fall on one man's house.

Not really. It could be much better. Too much uncontrolled growth. Too little care about pollution. Too much focus on useless shit like anti LGBT. Little or no interest in the preservation of our wild spaces.

This is instructive on the prog perspective. By most accounts, Florida is one of the best run states in the country. Best run state. Yet, progs hate it. Why? Because they hate success. They want destruction. That's why they love Ca., where the pro-slavers are destroying the place.

For business.

Low wage workforce.
Lax environmental regulations.
Unchecked growth.

These are nothing to be proud of.

California's GDP is more than double that of Florida.

CA - $4.1 trillion
FL - $1.7 trillion

Keep in mind that pigblo's opinion on pig sugar rick's criminal and rampant destruction of our natural resources was:

Lakes.com ranks okeechobee the worst in the country.
The voter's in this area passed a tax referendum to try to slow down, stop the degradation of our priceless lagoon.
As dirtsantos and don q-hokey allow billionaires to ignore it.
Mitigation, schools, impact reports etc were once requirements for sleazy carpetbagger developers.
