Originally Answered: What exactly is a good definition of the word "woke"? I keep hearing it as a political insult.
It is supposed to mean "alert to injustice and discrimination in society".

It is being used as a political insult because most of the people who declare themselves woke are actually trying to dictate THEIR view of what THEY see as injustice and discrimination, and most people don't agree with that view.

Chances are that if you declare yourself to the masses as "woke"...you're not.

What you probably are is posturing to the masses about how noble and enlightened you are while condemning, insulting, and trying to shame those who think you are full of crap.

Wokeness is like common sense...the louder you proclaim possession of it, the less likely you are to have it."
