I have to agree with WTf there. There is nothing remotely resembling hate speech with this. His jokes should have been far more offensive to white people than trans people by far.... Not even close. Truthfully, this was brilliance, genius comedy if you understand what he was saying and where he was going with it. Honestly, the fact that people actually took his comedy the way they did, fired up the outrage machine, and staged a walkout at Netflix to the point they had to issue a statement only furthers the point he was making. He knew exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it. I get why people are upset, if I were part of the problem, I would be upset too.

I watched it. I'm not sure what the fuss is all about. The parts about gender and trans people weren't funny. I wasn't upset about what he said so much as I thought the jokes about it were bad. All this fuss and I was hoping there was something funny about it. "Those pussies they got, know what I mean?...derrr". That's like what comedians say to make fun of bad comedians. He must be hurting for material in his old age. The eye of the tiger is fading... Or maybe his audience doesn't have any intellect and he is catering to his customers. Not sure. That part of his act was like reading crankit, snipes, lunch and fish posts. Of course they will love it.

I really shouldn't be surprised by the responses. If you are easily offended, deeply polarized, or lacking in intellect you will either laugh at the face value blindly or find it unfunny and offensive. That is part of the joke.

But it wasn't funny and it was not part of the joke. No where did he premise making fun of people or himself saying 'unfunny'. He literally said, "those pussies they got, you know what I mean?" Sounds like a bad phobic Seinfeld rip off. Now if he set the premise as talking about people like crankit etc, and was making fun. Then yeah, woulda been funny.

You have to watch his previous stuff to fully see his POV. This goes back several years/specials/shows. And then you can perhaps better understand. His other point is the outrage machine is not congruent - these are jokes and ya better learn to laugh at yourself. On top of that, his other point is they are both marginalized groups, and they should be working together, not fighting over some standup jokes. And he's right - something like 30 out of 3k NF employees protested - a whopping 0.01% - when that happens, sorry 30 people, you lost.

I thought it was pretty funny. Some of the jokes did take time to come around but to me that is a unique and difficult task he does well, and worth the wait.

I've watched all of Chappelle's stuff. I love his work. But the "jokes" we are talking about were not funny. They were weak regardless of the backlash. Let's be honest. "those pussies they got, you know what I mean?" It's not funny. It's just not. Not even in a troll type shock comedy aspect. It's weak. The gender set was so bad, almost felt embarrassed for him. Like watching a drunk dad try to do comedy but it wasn't funny at all.

I had heard mixed reviews about this one even from people who typically like Chappelle, so I went in not expecting it to be near as funny as it was.

Whatever happened to just not watching stuff that you don't enjoy watching? Why do these protestors want to prevent other people from watching something that they find funny? No one is forcing anyone to watch this special. The same authoritarians twats that want to control what you can or cannot view are the same ones that support controlling what information and news people have access to. Anyone who thinks the fascists will stop there is dumber than some of you who are about to quote this and post something stupid as shit.

A comedian said something that hurt my feelings or made light of an issue I feel strongly about. It wasn't funny to me. Fire up that outrage machine and make some noise, time to cancel him.

Whatever. In context of all his work, the message he was sending (there was more than this one), and the expected reaction to it happening right on queue made it hilarious. Sure there were a couple of parts that were cringe worthy, but that was part of the point and absolutely done with intent.
