You just have to make sure that philosophy is adhered to uniformly; limited to:

- Only blacks can make jokes about blacks, and blacks can only tell jokes about blacks;

- Only whites can make jokes about whites, and whites can only tell jokes about whites ;

- Only gays can make jokes about gays, and gays can only tell jokes about gays ;

- Same for trans (and maybe they break it down male-to-female and vice-versa)

- Same for every other group and sub-group in Chappelle's list of "Alphabet People"

Either that, or wide open to all, but no double-standard just because one group has been historically more oppressed than another.

I think the difference here was his jokes were not jokes, it was hate speech. I did not watch it so I don't know for sure. But I will not discredit people that fall within the group that he offended and vocalize about it. What I am seeing and hearing is that it was pretty bad. He was saying some harsh stuff about gender, beyond joking. I'm bummed to hear this because I like Chappelle's comedy. Does he have a right to his belief and free speech, yes. If it offends the masses, should it effect his wallet? I guess that's how it works. Choose your words wisely in this day and age. The days of Don Rickles are over. It's a new world. You clearly did not watch this or any of his other specials. Go back and watch and see what he is trying to say. He has a point - basically the transgender community has asked him not to punch down. He made his point that he sees it as them punching down on him and the African-American community. But the only way to truly grasp it is to go watch.

I have to agree with WTf there. There is nothing remotely resembling hate speech with this. His jokes should have been far more offensive to white people than trans people by far.... Not even close. Truthfully, this was brilliance, genius comedy if you understand what he was saying and where he was going with it. Honestly, the fact that people actually took his comedy the way they did, fired up the outrage machine, and staged a walkout at Netflix to the point they had to issue a statement only furthers the point he was making. He knew exactly what he was doing and why he was doing it. I get why people are upset, if I were part of the problem, I would be upset too.

I watched it. I'm not sure what the fuss is all about. The parts about gender and trans people weren't funny. I wasn't upset about what he said so much as I thought the jokes about it were bad. All this fuss and I was hoping there was something funny about it. "Those pussies they got, know what I mean?...derrr". That's like what comedians say to make fun of bad comedians. He must be hurting for material in his old age. The eye of the tiger is fading... Or maybe his audience doesn't have any intellect and he is catering to his customers. Not sure. That part of his act was like reading crankit, snipes, lunch and fish posts. Of course they will love it.

Whatever happened to just not watching stuff that you don't enjoy watching? Why do these protestors want to prevent other people from watching something that they find funny? I've watched all of Chappelle's stuff. I love his work. But the "jokes" we are talking about were not funny. They were weak regardless of the backlash. Let's be honest. "those pussies they got, you know what I mean?" It's not funny. It's just not. Not even in a troll type shock comedy aspect. It's weak. The gender set was so bad, almost felt embarrassed for him. Like watching a drunk dad try to do comedy but it wasn't funny at all.

A comedian said something that hurt my feelings or made light of an issue I feel strongly about. It wasn't funny to me. Fire up that outrage machine and make some noise, time to cancel him.

Whatever. In context of all his work, the message he was sending (there was more than this one), and the expected reaction to it happening right on queue made it hilarious. Sure there were a couple of parts that were cringe worthy, but that was part of the point and absolutely done with intent.

"I think" his skit was funny, and truthful, Problem is too many people get offended by the truth nowadays, he told it like it was, there was nothing hateful in what he said it was just point blank truth and some people can't handle that nowadays, and he actually spoke about that in the skit. yes there were a few off color jokes, but who cares, what are we coming to a sterile world weather can be nothing other than towing the line of mediocrity? Again that's just my opinion. Denis Leary had some pretty funny standup routines in the 90s that offended people back then, looking back now compared today's standards they were nothing but still funny as hell.
