What a game. But, what a sad ending. Sharp will be haunted by the pain of "what if" for the rest of his life, just like Freddy Brown in '82. Florida was truly a team of destiny. There is no other word for the comebacks they mounted in every game except Norfolk State. Houston looked really good and, had UF not been there, I would have been pulling for them against any of the others.
Don't know about any of you, but Spectrum crapped out at 8:42 - internet, phone, cable in a large beachside area. When I called them, they "hoped to get it resolved by 11." Arrrrrrghhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was frantically calling places only to find out Coaster's closes at 9, LD at 10, and The Oasis lost cable, too, etc. I ended up at a pool bar (Poolie's?) on Palm Bay Rd 10 miles away. I missed half of the first half. Hope you all found a similar solution because it was a great game. |

It was a genuine team effort. I still can' believe they won. It felt like they stole it. Watching Clayton console one of the Houston players conveyed the feeling perfectly. It was a crazy night and a stressful one for a Gators fan.

The fifth stressful night of Gator b-ball. They were all the same, fall behind by a lot, then storm back in the last few minutes. A cool, calm and committed team with depth. Hard to beat, but, still, a team of destiny.

Man, that is a big ask. A lot of them are sophomores (Condon, Haugh, and several others), but they lose Will Richard, Alijah Martin and Walter Clayton all guards and each of whom was a huge, huge factor (and huge, huge, HUGE in the case of Clayton). I can't see it, but, heck I couldn't see this 2 months ago. But, the Magic 8-ball called it! So, I will ask it again -
1) Can the Florida Gators repeat as Natl Champs? - "Without a doubt" And, a tougher one - 2) WILL the Florida Gators repeat as Natl Champs? - "Outlook Good" Wow! You read it here first. Place your bets, folks! |

Orange and blue blood? Experts weigh in on Florida basketball's debatable blue blood status

Not a chance that UF is a blue blood in basketball OR football. Koss's statements are laughable. We were penalized because the SEC could only send one team to the tournament?? None of the conferences could send more than one team. We had teams in the '60s and '70s that could have gone? Maybe one team in the '60s (with Neal Walk), but I was there in the '70s and we were AWFUL. UF's success in football and basketball is recent. We don't have a hundred years of success like Kansas, UNC, Indiana, et al in b-ball or USC, Ohio St, ND, Bama (or even LSU) in football. I've been rooting for the Gators since the early '60s. Most UF fans are delusional and many are arrogant beyond belief. I appreciate the wins and titles, but I remember the many (more) years of futility (which makes the good times even better). Blue blood? Hah! Vitale was right when he said, "Noveau Riche".

Last Monday, Florida basketball became the first team in the modern era to win a national title without a top 100 recruit. How did the Gators' underdog mentality carry them to a title? https://www.usatoday.com/story...-haugh-uf/83046979007/ |
