Well written. The Intertia. Might be paywalled.

would love to surf there. knew a radar tech that did a bunch of the northern swell spots and told me I needed to get there.

Inertia is what happens when my body congeals in the first 5 minutes in the water.
Quick, this man needs immediate tropical therapy! Two tickets to Puerto Rico....stat!

Um, grades 6-8 were at the NW corner of Puerto Rico. Back then, wave forecasting was obtaining an airlifted Miami Herald and consulting its giant weather map extending far into the Atlantic. A storm off NC was a good omen.

Much later, after a decade in Jacksonville, I took a job in NW Oregon, thinking the cold, nasty Pacific would be off limits. Had a 6/5/4 in no time at all.

Air fares to Nova Scotia from Orlando have been persistently affordable. There should be nonstops on Breeze from Vero to Rhode Island.

A super-cheap flight to England over Labor Day was late for a big Cornwall swell. I'll post some non-surfy photos.

NS was on our east coast summer trip route this year but canceled for various reasons. Driving trips, is it odd to be the only one in the campground, upstate NY or VT, with two boards in a bag.

We have been doing the same, but I hate cold.

Cole I hate cold too, but I hate fascism more. Plus Im over the heat in Florida during summer. We bought a place on Sugar Mountain in NC about 6 years ago, and have been spending a lot of the summers there and starting to get into snowboarding. I get it now why people snowbird.

Can't say I disagree with any of the above. I have an expat friend in Spain, and his surf pics are next level.

The NW corner of Spain is a good climate match for Astoria, Oregon.

Washington is about as safe as anywhere in the US, but I was never tempted to drive there to see if the beaches were any good.. Oregon is overstuffed. There's been some beautiful recent films on Vancouver Island--Flroda Surf Film Festifval's been interested in cold.
