The silver lining is better surf and being able to grow coconut palm further north.

For example, more water is evaporated into a warmer atmosphere and becomes fuel for storms.

The last serious cold-kill of coconut palms in Vero Beach was 2010--11, the notorious wet & cold followed by 26ยบ at the friendly neighborhood airport.

yup, 2010 was bad. But, one of my coconut palms survived that winter. Lost some others though.

Western Europe, including Cornwall, had a fine surf summer this year. California had at least one severe storm that ripped up kelp forests and damaged beaches.
