Interesting history of the Kirra groynes here, with photos, before and after the Superbank sand pumping:
https://www.dailytelegraph.com...da6f9f11fd4002aee19c59 Little groyne got buried after all the sand pumping, disappearing in 2003, but has made a partial reappearance due to erosion since then. Amazing pics at the link. I surfed the little groyne side in 1999, because the whole Top 44 and all their friends were on the main peak by the big groyne, and it was heavy (during Cyclone Frank). I was watching from way down the line as pro after pro got shacked in tubes with as much sand as water in the lip. |
