I started hearing the reggae stuff out west about 74.
But as a south florida kid, early calypso, ska, rock steady etc were always around, a lot of caribbeans in the area. And the islands a boat hop away. Thats where I heard desmond dekker, maytals and jimmy.
Didn't really get marley til later, but i saw and heard harder they come and:
