Sorry if this has been discussed before, I just got introduced to the song and controversy after seeing Matt Meola do a parody of this song in a surf video. It's on Youtube
------------------------- "I remember South Africa in the late 70's, sleeping on the beach at J-bay, smoking ganja with the blacks. On weekends we'd go to the pub in East London to drink beer and fight with the Afrikaners. They liked to fight, I liked to fight. It was a good time" |

If you just listen to it, it is absolutely country, but once I saw the music video I realized it is a parody of country music fans!

Complete with Billy Ray Cyrus..
In a semi-related note. My old reporter and I had to cover some local-news telethon after some flooding in BFE West Virginia a couple years back. Billy made an appearance high enough to make the whole place high just from his respiration and enough eye liner to make Carrot Top jealous.
Looking for photo from the obligatory photo op we had with him.
My kid heard that song at school, and bless his phish and foo fighters loving heart, he wont stop singing that damn song.
Its time for the q-tips to go deep

Its a very slick parody.
