How long has the wind been blowing 20 knots or more? 3 weeks, a month?
Finally, a drop off. Just in time to get the 22 Mosquito Lagoon, North IRL season going. Capt. Bob had called and advised that conditions were right. Ray and I met him at the Haulover ramp at pre daylight. He had the Spyder 19 with the 140 Suzuki in the water. The baitwells were loaded with 3-5 inch croakers. His wells have the bubble system aerators. This keeps these croakers in good shape. You know why croakers are the best bait? Because of the croaking or drumming noise they make . Its a dinner bell. We head down the cut a bit and try to get some of the very large reds that frequent there. We can see them on the fish finder. We drop down to no avail. Oh well, we head out. We take limit trout at the next stop in the lagoon. With the over at 27". We spend the rest of the day moving around the area, including the North IRL. We boated at least 30 trout and several reds. Bait is plentiful, the water is clean. Only a few other people out. Cabin cruiser condo people are heading north. Roset spoonbills are beautiful! A very good day in a rare paradise. ------------------------- So if you are a surfer I wish you the prosperity that allows you more time to pursue the salt water dream, and the true happiness that comes from warm water, clean waves and the companionship of your fellow surfers. If you are an internet troll just spewing bs then f off. |
