As if former President Barack Obama didn't cost Americans enough through lavish government spending while in office, his financial exploitation of taxpayers has continued well into his post-presidency life so much that he has just earned the title of "most expensive ex-president."

In 2018, Obama will cost taxpayers $1,153,000 for his expenses, a Congressional Research Service memo that looked into the official allowances for each of the five living former commanders in chief reported, according to The Washington Times.

His massive financial request for next year was more than $100,000 higher than George W. Bush's and nearly $200,000 more than Bill Clinton's. Meanwhile, George H.W. Bush was set to receive $942,000, and Jimmy Carter would receive the least amount, at just $456,000.

The Former Presidents Act allows for every former president an office, expenses and, in some cases, an annual pension payment, since the 1950s when former President Harry S. Truman struggled financially after leaving the White House, the Times reported.
Each ex-president receives a base pension of $205,700 per year, according to Fox News, however they can request a larger budget for additional expenses, such as office space, which has been the biggest cost for the former chief executives.

Not surprisingly, Obama's office space was the most expensive at $536,000 per year. Coming in second was Clinton's New York office, which costs taxpayers $518,000 annually, followed by George W. at $497,000 and his father at $286,000. Carter's Atlanta office costs taxpayers the least at just $115,000 per year.

Obama's pension payment was also the highest of the five, ringing up a $236,000 bill for taxpayers, followed again by Clinton at $231,000, and the younger Bush at $225,000.
Of course, these figures do not include the lifetime protection services for the former presidents and their spouses provided by the U.S. Secret Service. Those costs have not been released to the public, but reportedly costs tens of millions of dollars, according to the Washington Free Beacon.

And, as we know, the Obamas have also raked in mega cash from speaking engagements, with one speech from the former president costing up to $400,000.

For a politician who built his career claiming that he represented "the little guy," impoverished people, and people facing obstacles to reaching the American dream, his lavish lifestyle is a far cry from struggling or even mediocre. Most people in this country will never know the kind of wealth that he has amassed, but they certainly will contribute to it every week that they earn a paycheck.

Obama's trip to Palm Beach was estimated at $3.6 million by a Republican investigation, so Trump's will be the same, if not more considering Obama's trip was several years ago. Well, then there is the cost to keep the Secret Service at Trump's resort, which he charges full price for and turns a profit from.

But fishy, what was the rent the secret service was asked to pay I'm trump tower? You know, the rent for his own security detail? Trump owns the space that he was asking the secret service to rent and they ultimately gave up because the trump people wanted more than the secret service could afford. They walked away. Then there's this: "The U.S. military has separately agreed to lease space in Trump Tower for $130,000 a month, according to a lease first reported last month by the Wall Street Journal. That space will be for the White House Military Office, which provides services including communications and the handling of the "football" that the president would use to launch a nuclear attack, the Journal reported.".

Given these findings, it's pretty important that both Christians and non-Christians understand what Jesus means when he says "judge not." The key is recognizing that the word judge can be used in two different ways in the New Testament. Sometimes judge is used to mean "judge between things," to differentiate, or discern. In this case we judge between right and wrong, good and evil, righteous and unrighteous.
But this kind of judging -- the act of discernment -- is not what Jesus is forbidding. In fact, throughout the Bible we are commanded to discern. In the very same discourse as the famous "judge not" statement, Jesus talks about having the discernment to see the difference between good people and evil people (Luke 6:43-45).
Jesus compares judging people to trees. Good trees, he says, always produce good fruit - and only good fruit, and bad trees always produce bad fruit, and only bad fruit. The call to differentiate good from evil is to judge, to discern, correctly.
This is often what gets Christians into hot water in our ignorantly-&-insanely-tolerant, religiously diverse culture.
When a Christian labels something as "wrong" or "evil," they are pounced upon as being judgmental and out of step with Jesus. Sometimes this is the case, as I will discuss below, but very often the accusation is the result of a culture that no longer understands the difference between discernment and condemnation.
A New Testament commentator of yester-year explains the linguistic dilemma this way: "Judgment is an ambiguous word, in Greek as in English:

It is this second definition, to condemn, that Jesus forbids, and he makes that clear when the whole sentence in Luke 6 is read: "Judge not, and you will not be judged; condemn not, and you will not be condemned." "Judge Not, Lest You Be Judged" - The Most Misunderstood and Abused Verse in All of Scripture

Matthew 7:1 -- "Do not judge so that you will not be judged" is a favorite verse of the ungodly. Many unbelievers have it memorized, because in it they believe they have found a bullet proof vest that will protect them from any Christian who might question their behavior. In fact, they have found it to be such impregnable armor that it sometimes seems they expect to wear it on judgment day - not that they will admit to believing there will be a judgment day. But what good does it do a sinner to escape the judgment of fellow sinners only to eventually face the judgment of the all-seeing Holy One?

Not only is this verse ripped out of its context and continually abused by the ungodly so that they may continue in their sin unchallenged, but it is often misunderstood by Christians.

The entire passage is as follows:
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." (Mat 7:1-5)

Unbelievers only know the first verse, and that is where they stop. But notice the rest of the passage. Context is important. What does Jesus mean by judging? What kind of judging is He prohibiting and condemning? Is He prohibiting all kinds of judgment? Unbelievers, and unfortunately even many Christians, seem to think that Jesus is here prohibiting every kind of criticism or condemnation of another person's behavior. But is this really what He is teaching? Hardly! In a moment, we will see why this is an impossible interpretation. For now, let us consider the context to see what Jesus is actually saying.

What we see when we slow down and look carefully at the passage is that Jesus is prohibiting the kind of judgment that hypocrites practice. He is telling us that we should not use a standard of measure with others that we don't apply to ourselves. He is telling us that we should not be strict with the sin of others and lax toward our own sin. We should be strict with all sin, not lax toward all sin. He is telling us that we are not qualified to remove small specks from the eye of our brother, when we have a huge log in our own eye.

An example would be an unrepentant adulterer condemning other adulterers for their adultery. This is someone who has a log in his own eye. He is not qualified to deal with other adulterers, for he commits the same sin himself. He has no right to pass judgment on others for the very same sin that he himself commits.

We see how foolish it is for someone to judge others for the very sin he himself commits. That is called hypocrisy.

Furthermore, it is wrong for me to condemn others for faults that are of a lesser nature than my faults. If I condemn someone else for their impatience, when in reality they are far more patient than I am, then I am judging them with a stricter standard than I am willing to apply to myself. If I am a fornicator, it is hypocrisy for me to condemn someone else for eating too much at a given meal. My fornication is much more heinous than their overeating. I have a log in my eye and I am making much of the speck in their eye. I also become guilty of sinful judging when I assume the worst about someone without evidence. If someone doesn't pay me back and I accuse them of intentionally stealing from me, rather than simply forgetting to pay me back, I am using a strict measure that I don't want others to apply to me. Many other examples could be given. The point is that what Jesus condemns is hypocrisy.

Is all judging hypocrisy? No. If I understand myself to be a sinner deserving the wrath of God and that I am only saved by the grace of God and that I am no better than any other sinner, then I may lawfully judge that another man's behavior is in fact wrong and sinful.

I may also declare that such sin is wrong. Did Jesus really intend for His disciples to see only goodness in everyone else? If the disciples were to hear someone curse, were they to maintain some sort of a blank slate in their mind about whether that cursing was sin or not? Were they to think cursing a good thing? Were they to think it an indifferent thing? Were they under obligation to remain silent about it? No, on all counts! Yet this seems to be the very application many today make concerning "Judge not lest you be judged."

Read the New Testament (as well as the OT, which is also inspired) and you will easily see that the disciples formed judgments about the conduct and behavior of other people all the time. What's more, they verbalized those judgments.

The following are examples:
"For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men who suppress the truth in unrighteousness, because that which is known about God is evident within them; for God made it evident to them. For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly seen, being understood through what has been made, so that they are without excuse. For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing to be wise, they became fools, and exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible man and of birds and four-footed animals and crawling creatures. Therefore God gave them over in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, so that their bodies would be dishonored among them.

For they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. In this passage Paul passes judgment on mankind for being unrighteous, for suppressing the truth, for choosing idols instead of God, for not giving God honor, for not giving thanks, for professing to be wise, and for exchanging the natural sexual function for degrading passions like homosexuality. What shall we say to Paul? "Judge not, lest you be judged." Was Paul violating his own principle of not judging others in the very next chapter, Romans 2? I don't think so. Was Paul judging people who practice those sins? Yes, he was. Was he guilty of the kind of judging Jesus prohibited? No, he wasn't. He wasn't being hypocritical. Paul was not practicing those sins. Paul was not saying that he was innocent of all sin. Paul was also not meddling with specks in the eyes of others while he had a log in his own eye.

And yet today, many people will accuse Christians and pastors of "judging" when they speak against certain sins. Does speaking against a sin make one guilty of judging? Of course not. Where then did such people get this idea? The idea came from the pit of hell. It is propagated by false prophets and false Christians, and then some true Christians who don't study their Bibles enough become influenced by this outrageous way of interpreting Jesus' words. What about the apostle Peter? Did he understand Jesus to prohibit all kinds of judging? No, he did not.

"For the time already past is sufficient for you to have carried out the desire of the Gentiles, having pursued a course of sensuality, lusts, drunkenness, carousing, drinking parties and abominable idolatries. In all this, they are surprised that you do not run with them into the same excesses of dissipation, and they malign you; but they will give account to Him who is ready to judge the living and the dead." (1Pe 4:3-5)

Is it wrong then for a pastor to preach on this passage of scripture and declare the same thing that John does? No, it isn't. When a pastor (or any other Christian) notices that another professing Christian is not keeping Christ's commandments, but regularly and openly breaking them, is he supposed to suspend all judging faculties or can he and should he conclude that such a professing Christian is no Christian at all? Should Christians know what the commandments are? Yes. Should they be able to tell whether they and others around them are keeping those commandments? Yes, they should.

When they see that others do not keep the commandments, are they supposed to approve of such behavior? Are they to remain neutral about it? Are they to remain uncertain and confused and say, "Well I don't know what that means."? No, they should judge such a person to be a false Christian - not because they are hypocritically judgmental, but because they believe the words of scripture to be true and applicable.

Matthew 7:1 -- "Do not judge so that you will not be judged" is a favorite verse of the ungodly. Many unbelievers have it memorized, because in it they believe they have found a bullet proof vest that will protect them from any Christian who might question their behavior. In fact, they have found it to be such impregnable armor that it sometimes seems they expect to wear it on judgment day - not that they will admit to believing there will be a judgment day. But what good does it do a sinner to escape the judgment of fellow sinners only to eventually face the judgment of the all-seeing Holy One?
Not only is this verse ripped out of its context and continually abused by the ungodly so that they may continue in their sin unchallenged, but it is often misunderstood by Christians. The entire passage is as follows:
"Do not judge so that you will not be judged. For in the way you judge, you will be judged; and by your standard of measure, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck that is in your brother's eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye? Or how can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' and behold, the log is in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the log out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to take the speck out of your brother's eye." (Mat 7:1-5)
Unbelievers only know the first verse, and that is where they stop. But notice the rest of the passage. Context is important. What does Jesus mean by judging? What kind of judging is He prohibiting and condemning? Is He prohibiting all kinds of judgment? Unbelievers, and unfortunately even many Christians, seem to think that Jesus is here prohibiting every kind of criticism or condemnation of another person's behavior. But is this really what He is teaching? Hardly! In a moment, we will see why this is an impossible interpretation. For now, let us consider the context to see what Jesus is actually saying.
What we see when we slow down and look carefully at the passage is that Jesus is prohibiting the kind of judgment that hypocrites practice. He is telling us that we should not use a standard of measure with others that we don't apply to ourselves. He is telling us that we should not be strict with the sin of others and lax toward our own sin. We should be strict with all sin, not lax toward all sin. He is telling us that we are not qualified to remove small specks from the eye of our brother, when we have a huge log in our own eye.
An example would be an unrepentant adulterer condemning other adulterers for their adultery. This is someone who has a log in his own eye. He is not qualified to deal with other adulterers, for he commits the same sin himself. He has no right to pass judgment on others for the very same sin that he himself commits. Jesus said words like fool and such, but the words were based on righteous anger. He was speaking the truth, God's truth. God knows all, like your heart and true intentions. So, if He calls you a liar then you're a liar and if he calls you a fool your a fool. Is It Right to Judge?
How many times have you heard someone whine, "Judge not, that ye be not judged?" This verse of Scripture from Matthew 7:1 is often quoted out of context by people who are terrified at the idea of someone preaching against sin or pointing out any form of error in anyone, especially in themselves.

As I stood in a voting line one day I overheard a woman justifying her foolish choice for president by saying, "Well, we aren't supposed to judge." Imagine that! Choosing NOT to judge a political candidate on election day! No wonder our nation is in such a mess!

As for Matthew 7:1, the context (verses 1-5) allows judging after you have first judged YOURSELF. Jesus did not make a blanket statement against judgment. He simply pointed out a RULE for judging.

Now, the word "judge" in its various forms (judgeth, judging, judgment, judges, etc) is found over 700 times in God's word. One whole book of the Bible is titled "Judges" for it was written at a time when God raised up judges to lead His people.
As we are about to see, God EXPECTS His people to judge. In fact, you are sinning against God if you refuse to judge! (Read that again, please)

God Expects Us to Judge
"The mouth of the righteous speaketh wisdom, and his tongue talketh of judgment." (Psa. 37:30) A righteous person will talk of judgment. He will not REFUSE to judge. He will talk judgment.
"Seek good, and not evil, that ye may live: and so the LORD, the God of hosts, shall be with you, as ye have spoken. Hate the evil, and love the good, and establish judgment in the gate: it may be that the LORD God of hosts will be gracious unto the remnant of Joseph." (Amos 5:14-15) How can you hate the evil and love the good if you refuse to judge? You can't. You are SINNING when you refuse to judge.

Our generation is well described in Isaiah 59:8: "The way of peace they know not; and there is no judgment in their goings: they have made them crooked paths: whosoever goeth therein shall not know peace." People have refused to judge, so there is no peace.

Paul said in I Corinthians 1:10 to ". . . be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment." Why would Paul make such a statement if judging is wrong? In I Corinthians 2:15 Paul says, "But he that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man." Judging is not a sin; judging is a characteristic of being a spiritual person! Satan has been lying to us, hoping that we will NOT judge, because he knows that the right kind of judgment PLEASES God and betters our lives and Christian service.

Someone says, "But should we judge PEOPLE?" Yes, we certainly should. Paul actually REBUKES the Corinthians for NOT judging: "Dare any of you, having a matter against another, go to law before the unjust, and not before the saints? Do ye not know that the saints shall judge the world? and if the world shall be judged by you, are ye unworthy to judge the smallest matters?

Know ye not that we shall judge angels? how much more things that pertain to this life? If then ye have judgments of things pertaining to this life, set them to judge who are least esteemed in the church. I speak to your shame. Is it so, that there is not a wise man among you? no, not one that shall be able to judge between his brethren?" (I Cor. 6:1-5) If judging is wrong, then Paul needs to confess and repent for misleading these Christians! He clearly told them to JUDGE PEOPLE.
If judging people is wrong, how can we obey Romans 16:17-18? II Corinthians 6:17? II Timothy 3:5-6? I John 4:1? Friend, if judging is wrong, then God has contradicted Himself and His words cannot be trusted!

Notice Malachi 3:18: "Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not." WOW! Does that sound like it is wrong to judge?

What about Revelation 2:2? " I know thy works, and thy labour, and thy patience, and how thou canst not bear them which are evil: and thou hast tried them which say they are apostles, and are not, and hast found them liars:" Why would the Lord be pleased with these Christians if judging was wrong? Is it not impossible to find someone a "liar" without judging them?

If the Bible is clear about anything, it is clear about the importance of judging on a regular basis in order to properly serve and honor God. To ignore this fact is to ignore all of the Scripture just presented and also the rest of the Bible. God expects us to judge.

God's Rules for Judging
Now I do not wish to imply that we should spend all of our time judging. Sometimes people judge when they have no business doing so. In John 7:24 Jesus tells us to judge RIGHTEOUS judgment. This can only be done by following the rules that God has established in His word. Here follow seven good rules from Scripture:
Judge Scripturally
Isaiah 8:20 says, "To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them." Our standard is God's word, not our feelings, our traditions, or our opinions. Right and wrong should always be determined by God's word.

Don't Judge When God's Word Is Silent
If God's word is silent about a subject, then you may not have to judge at all. Don't rush to judgment on an issue when the Bible says very little or is silent about it. Don't make more of a matter than God makes of it. A good example of this is found in Colossians 2:16: "Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days:" That is, these are not subjects of great importance today, so let's not make these great issues of judgment.

Pray for Good Judgement Ability
When Solomon received his kingdom he asked God to "Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?" (I Kings 3:9) James 1:5 says, "If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." We should pray for good judgment ability.

Don't Respect Persons
Proverbs 24:23 says, "These things also belong to the wise. It is not good to have respect of persons in judgment." Treat all parties fairly without favoring anyone, such as family members or friends. A truly fair judge is blind and deaf to any outer influence. (Isa. 42:1, 19-21)

Judge in Truth
Do not judge another when you do not have all the relevant facts. Jeremiah 5:1 says, "Run ye to and fro through the streets of Jerusalem, and see now, and know, and seek in the broad places thereof, if ye can find a man, if there be any that executeth judgment, that seeketh the truth; and I will pardon it." A true judge is one who seeks the truth. If you must judge, be sure and get all the facts. A Japanese proverb says to "search seven times before you judge."

Judge Mercifully
Remember the words of Jesus in Matthew 7:2: "For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again." You'll reap what you sow (Gal. 6:7-8). If you are swift and harsh in judging others, then God will see to it that you receive the same from others. Has God not been very merciful to you, even though you deserved it not? Likewise, you should exercise mercy toward others.
Don't Forget to Judge Yourself

I Corinthians 11:30-31: "For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged." If you are a true Christian, then you belong to God. You are God's child. If you refuse to judge and improve yourself as a child of God, then God will take it upon Himself to judge you. Many of the troubles that we face in life are nothing more than God's way of judging us since we often neglect to judge ourselves.

Wouldn't it be amazing if every Christian actually took time to judge themselves before judging anyone else?
