It's been a very long time for me since my yard has seen a freeze.

I think it's been a matter of luck that the nasty cold snaps have missed us. Think of the frozen palms of Dallas. The Atlantic sea surface temps are insane, but I do remember seeing surfers skinning it at Cape Hatteras Feb 25, 2017. [L=NOAA south Atlantic SST]

It seems like we have had a much cooler winter than I ever remember, with days and days with highs in the 60s. Also, many more cloudy/overcast days. Sure, no freezes, but I've been wearing a jacket a lot more than I remember (and I remember back to 1959, so I am not a newby). I don't have any data, but it sure seems that way.

To me, this has been a warm winter. Haven't turned the house heat on all winter. No temps below 48F. A lot of rain in Dec/Jan. Probably going to have perfect weather this spring!

I'm not complaining. I (literally) never turn the heat on, so that's not a measure for me and I like the cooler weather. (Summer will be here soon enough.) But, (again no objective data, just my "feeling") it seems like we have had temps in the 60s for a week or two at a time, with very, very few days in the high 70s. Also, it seems we have had far more cloudy days that normal. I've lived here since 1959, so I've seen the big, BIG freezes ('63, '77, '84 and Jan and then 11 months later in Dec of '89 come immediately to mind), and I'm not minimizing them, but it just seems like temps, overall, have been 10 deg cooler than normal. I don't remember waking up with the temps in the house being the low 60s for so many days in a row. But, again, no data, just "feelings" and, again, I LIKE it.

Ok...what about the mango outlook? Seems to have been cool, hopefully it will be good.

My neighbor's trees are loaded with blooms as are my peaches and citrus. Big winds this weekend, though, so I hope they don't get wiped out.
