Monday late afternoon and evening turned into a rainfest; Brevard got some .4 inch but Vero airport is past 2", Fort Pierce .8. And around 11 pm, it's still raining. Not bad.

WEATHER Rainfall 'clobbered' prior record for one Florida city. See how much rain fell Monday USA TODAY NETWORK - Florida Vero Beach received 3.61 inches of rain from midnight to midnight. Adding rainfall after midnight, totals increased to 4.6 inches. Next up for Florida? A cold front is expected by the end of the week. At least one Florida community "clobbered" a rainfall record Monday as a system of low pressure crossed the state. For many Florida counties, especially along the peninsula, the rain helped existing drought conditions. "We have to straddle that line between enough rain to get some relief from drought but without the flooding," said Ana Torres-Vazquez, meteorologist with the National Weather Service Miami in a phone interview Tuesday morning. Next up? A cold front will send temperatures down a bit by the end of the week. How much rain fell in Florida Monday, Feb. 24? Rain totals unless otherwise designated were from midnight Monday, Feb. 24 to midnight Tuesday, Feb. 25. Pensacola: trace (0.45 inches on Feb. 23) Tallahassee:0.11 inches (0.21 inches on Feb. 23) Jacksonville: 0.34 inches Daytona Beach: 0.28 inches Melbourne: 0.79 inches Vero Beach: 3.61 inches, which set both a daily and monthly record. As of 7 a.m., Vero Beach had received 4.6 inches of rain over the past 24 hours, according to Robert Haley, meteorologist with National Weather Service in Melbourne, in a phone interview early Tuesday morning. Prior records were 1.68 inches for the day in 1975 and 2.65 inches for February in 1966. "We clobbered both those records," Haley said. Fort Pierce: 1.11 inches This was less than half of the prior record of 2.57 inches for the day set in 1942. Stuart: Unofficially, 0.47 at the airport. Wide range up to 2 inches in some areas. West Palm Beach/Miami-Dade: 0.5 inches, maybe up to 1 inches, between 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. Naples: 1 to 1.5 inches, between 6 a.m. to 6 a.m. Key West: 3.45 inches |

Any Rain this time of year is great rain!
SUNDAY: Numerous showers and scattered afternoon storms will develop Sunday, with some stronger storms potentially developing into the afternoon and evening. Main storm threats will be frequent lightning strikes, strong wind gusts up to 45-55 mph, small hail, and locally heavy rainfall leading to minor flooding of roadways and poor drainage areas. However, there will be a low chance for a severe storm or two, producing locally damaging wind gusts of 60+ mph and hail around an inch in diameter. Also, a brief tornado can't be completely ruled out, but potential remains very low. |

Sun-Sun Night...Deeper moisture (PWATs 1.5-1.7") already by the
start of the day with potential ongoing convection lifting northward across ECFL. An upper trough will combine with the deepening moisture to enhance convection and produce PoPs up to 80pct across the area during the day. Multiple rounds of showers and storms will occur at some locations with heavy rainfall possible. Will need to monitor the threat for a few strong storms (wind gusts/hail) due to dry air and cold temps aloft (-10C to -12C). There will be a low chance for a brief tornado. This activity is expected to linger into the night, especially along the coast from Cape Canaveral southward. Expect southeasterly winds 10-15 mph, breezy at times along the coast. Cloud-cover and precip forecast to keep high temperatures in the U70s to L80s. Overnight mins remain in the 60s areawide. |

Last night was the other side of the coin for my fertilizing - 1-1/2 inches of downpour. What didn't run to another area was probably driven past the roots.
