I was over in Crystal River this weekend. Caught a good amount of the same species of puffers in your pic. They are actually kinda cool looking when you catch one, kinda metallic blue-ish in color (unlike the ones around here, they look like a turd). Couple times I thought I had a nice little snook or red. Not sure what I hate more ladyfish or puffers. All I know, both are everywhere!

ive heard smooth back puffer and also heard them called rabbit fish and yes they get like 2' long!

Excellent eating!!! have to know how to clean! ( but it is easy)

This one is about a foot and a half!




Skinned



Two nice fillets




cooking...one with Lemmon pepper and the other with Seafood Magic




The 2 smaller fillets are from some Toadies we caught about a year ago down at the Boynton Inlet...





This is the first time i have ever caught Rabbit Fish!
The water was very clear and flat!
They fight almost like a Pompano...
Hopefully will catch some more!!!
