In the process of buying a boat, owner had coastguard document that expired Nov 30th. His trip to Bahamas got extended a bit long from that high pressure that sat on us for most of the month. I have the Document with the bill of sale on the back with no date yet, owner is willing to help/ pay for anything he needs to do get the title good to tranfer. He's trying to register it with the state, but from what I understand he can't because coastguard title is expired.. also, is it really bad luck to rename a boat? granted you tell Poseidon about the change of course. Is there benefit of coastguard title vs Fl title?

lesson learned don't let your coastguard documents expire! and do not under any circumstances expect anything to be done in a reasonable amount of time. Groundswell will sail one day..maybe just not this month ha.
