NBC suggests not having Thanksgiving turkey this year to deal with inflation costs
'Some guests may drop off the list, and that's a way to cut costs too' By David Rutz | Fox News NBC segment suggests dropping Thanksgiving turkey to deal with inflation NBC says Americans concered about rising prices for Thanksgiving should consider forgoing the traditional turkey. A segment on NBC's "Today" on Saturday suggested American families could drop the traditional Thanksgiving turkey from their tables this year to deal with inflation. "With inflation on the rise, prices are going up on everything from your Thanksgiving meal to your gifts for the holidays," anchor Kristen Welker said to introduce the segment. NBC News correspondent Vicky Nguyen noted the 6.2 percent rise in prices in October from a year ago - a three-decade high - calling it "real money." In addition to setting a meal budget with an online app and buying store rather than name brands, Nguyen said something she admitted may be controversial. "Perhaps forgo the turkey," she said. "Bear with me. I know that is the staple of the Thanksgiving meal. However, some people think turkey is overrated. It tends to be the most expensive thing on the table. Maybe you do an Italian feast instead." Nguyen added that if you tell guests you're dumping the turkey, "some guests may drop off the list, and that's a way to cut costs too." "I'm not recommending it, I'm just offering it," she said, as Welker joked, "keep the pie." While the segment was light-hearted, the costs on American families aren't a laughing matter. A Fox News poll last month showed a strong majority of Americans expressing concern over inflation and a growing share falling behind on finances. (REUTERS/Mike Blake/File Photo) On a similar note, NBC previously published a piece titled, "Turkey Social Media photos promote harmful obsession with meat" in 2019, urging Americans not to post pictures of their turkey dinners because of how it would "promote violence unnecessarily - including the violent origins of our food." NBC's liberal cable arm MSNBC took a darker turn on the holiday over the weekend, airing a widely panned segment over the weekend tying Thanksgiving to "genocide" that remains "on the menu." ------------------------- The REAL truth is....both of the forum idiots are OWNED. -BOTH of them have no clue who their owner is. -They are both card carrying narcissists. ^These are PROVED facts. |

The jerks. When a dem is president and things inevitably go to hell, they are always telling us the adverse consequences of dem policies are good for us or our fault. Indeed, that is one of the tells that inform one that dems have screwed up everything again. Horrible recovery under Obama? It's the new normal and nothing can be done about it. No food or other items and/or high costs under Biden? It's our fault for wanting the stuff that we want and don't need.

It's 3.5 percent higher than what's considered healthy and much of that is from gas prices which are set on the global market.
I'm sure the Filet you eats costs way more, but my regular groceries aren't much more than they were before the pandemic. Hell, there is a thread on here where I bitch that a head of Cauliflower is $5 bucks and that was from two years ago. As far as shortages, stores are so full of Christmas shit their walls are trembling from the internal pressure. ------------------------- I was right. |

It's 3.5 percent higher than what's considered healthy and much of that is from gas prices which are set on the global market. We as a country can effect the global gas market prices by how much we produce. This is a known fact and is how OPEC alters gas prices. You claiming that we can't alter gas prices is utter BULLSHIT! Tell us all what happens if Biden releases a portion of the strategic oil supply? Thats right...the world price will come down TEMPORARILY! Biden has fucked us at every turn with actual oil PRODUCTION! Biden has been an enemy to oil production (all forms) from his very first day in office. You really are a fool...Coleslaw. ------------------------- The REAL truth is....both of the forum idiots are OWNED. -BOTH of them have no clue who their owner is. -They are both card carrying narcissists. ^These are PROVED facts. It is interesting though, isn't it, the Fed continuing to "buy" $120 billion monthly? $40 billion a month of mortgage backed securities and the rest to treasury notes. "Capitalism"

"The United States provides a number of tax subsidies to the fossil fuel industry as a means of encouraging domestic energy production. These include both direct subsidies to corporations, as well as other tax benefits to the fossil fuel industry. Estimates put U.S. direct subsidies to the fossil fuel industry at roughly $20 billion per year; with 20 percent currently allocated to coal and 80 percent to natural gas and crude oil. " So, you are saying that these taxpayer subsidies to BIG OIL is ok with you? Are you admitting that there is no real "free market" when it comes to oil & gas companies? Can you agree that when taxpayers contribute to the success of a company and helping a company maintaining solid profitability that it isn't really Capitalism? Here's a Yale University study that actually puts the number of subsidies into the Trillions. Yet, you're happy with this set up. A BIG fake Conservitard is what you are. https://e360.yale.edu/digest/f...s-in-2020-report-finds |

I sure am. The money - from congressional purse strings - is appropriatated and spent on the programs and projects enumerated.
The sloppy slush fund that Oil Company lobbyists line up for every year (whether it be $20 Billion, $420 Billion or $5 Trillion) is unaccounted and unaccountable. The fact that there is such a wide variance in these taxpayer subsidies with zero accountability should raise alotta red flags. Fake Conservitards don't give a tiny little shit though, do they? |

Biden has been an enemy to oil production (all forms) from his very first day in office.
Other than the oil sands line, name on thing Biden has done to cut oil production in the US. Personally, I think Trump had a backdoor deal with the cartel. How else do you explain him siding with a Muslim country over the obvious murder of Jamal? State secrets for lower gas prices...do you think Trump would do it? Of course you do. ------------------------- I was right. |
