No one banned Suess, that's a right wing hoax.
I remember giving my son a copy of "Catcher in the Rye" because the righties had tried to ban it many years ago (prompting me to read it immediately). Kid liked it so much he passed around to his friends. All smart kids. No, it has always been the right wing that loves "cancel culture" and banning books. ------------------------- “It is the heart of US policy to use fascism to preserve capitalism while claiming to be saving democracy from communism “ - Michael Parenti |

I love it when the theocrazies ban books. It lets me know which books they are threatened by and therefore which books are worth reading. There are so many books out there. It's good to have a clear list.

Nah, I'd say the real clowns are the ones equating keeping these books out of school libraries as "burning them" and then going on to double down the stupidity of equating it with something that never actually happened.....lol. ------------------------- "Its easier to fool people than to convince them they have been fooled" - Mark Twain |

To Kill a Mockingbird - Retained in the English curriculum by the Cherry Hill, NJ Board of Education (2007). A resident had objected to the novel's depiction of how blacks are treated by members of a racist white community in an Alabama town during the Depression. The resident feared the book would upset black children reading it.
1984 - Challenged in the Jackson County, FL (1981) because Orwell's novel is "pro-communist and contained explicit sexual matter." Catcher in the Rye - Removed by a Dorchester District 2 school board member in Summerville, SC (2001) because it "is a filthy, filthy book." Challenged by a Glynn County, GA (2001) school board member because of profanity. The novel was retained. Challenged in the Big Sky High School in Missoula, MT (2009). Adventures of Huckleberry Finn - No reference found on Banned Classics. Lord of the Flies - Challenged in the Waterloo, IA schools (1992) because of profanity, lurid passages about sex, and statements defamatory to minorities, God, women and the disabled. Challenged, but retained on the ninth-grade accelerated English reading list in Bloomfield, NY (2000) Animal Farm - Banned from Bay County's four middle schools and three high schools in Panama City, FL by the Bay County school superintendent in 1987. After 44 parents filed a suit against the district claiming that its instructional aids policy denies constitutional rights, the Bay County School Board reinstated the book, along with sixty-four others banned. The Scarlett Letter - No reference found. http://www.ala.org/advocacy/bb...allengedbooks/classics ------------------------- I was right. Edited: 10/29/2021 at 03:21 PM by Cole |

"The party of free speech." LOL
"Republicans have pretended they're defending free speech and free inquiry in schools against censorious liberals with their safe spaces and trigger warnings. In reality, conservatives have a mile-long history of trying to suppress the teaching of books they find uncomfortable." |

The books ARE NOT banned from the public...which is what you all are insinuating if not flat out lying about. The books have NO FUCKING BUSINESS IN THE LIBRARIES AT OUR SCHOOLS OR BEING TAUGHT DIRECTLY TO OUR CHILDREN! FUCKWADS! Children have access to this site. FK doesn't give two shits about kids reading "filth", such a liar. He spews it on here every day for the world to see. |
