The answer is that the CDC was trying to vaccinate people so that the small percentage of people who dont recover quickly and die can be saved. Your author is advocating natural immunity, which means a natural culling of people that cannot survive the virus. Those people could survive the virus with the vaccine. Think about that and try to appreciate a doctor explaining to someone on a ventilator that that they are dying because anti-vaxers are convinced the path to herd immunity is lined with the bodies of people that the vaccine could have saved.

The Republican program is to get vaccinated. Trump on down has urged people to get vaccinated. I have not heard one Republican politician recommend against. Lots of dems and independents aren't getting vaccinated either. On average, 8000+ people die a day in this country. You can put on Julia Letlow's sad tale or 7999 others any day of the week. Means nothing. That sort of thing is an effort by the press to scare people. It drives up their ratings. Some people fall for it, some don't. I choose to educate myself and come to my own conclusions.
