Disagree. This is not a 2nd amendment issue to me at all.
He gave false information when he filled out his ATF 4473. He should either make a plea or go to court if he thinks he didn't lie. We need to enforce the laws about giving false information when buying a firearm as it would help keep guns out of the hands of people who shouldn't have them. That would probably include some on this forum.

In the late 80's - early 90's there was concept being tossed around by the NRA that had many in the shooting community supporting this idea:
Remember this is before the '94 AWB that banned black rifles for 10 years. The concept was that rather than registrar guns, the idea was for people who wanted to own black rifles to go through a background check similar to a DoD secret clearance check, which isn't a difficult thing for normal people. After successfully passing that background check they could then own, buy, sell black rifles. The NRA flipped on this in '93 because of politics, but the idea is a good one and could be tailored to work with today's tech and needs. Maybe a new category for the hi-cap sporting firearms that isn't a NFA application, but a background check card? Drug testing could be part of that.
