I don't know what "open socialism" is or what it means to you, but I will tell you that capitalism is failing. You may be insulated from the effects, much as I am, but you don't have to look very far to see that the game is rigged and cannot go on much longer without a reset. Whether that's a social reset to establish a just and equitable redistribution of wealth, or a reactionary fascist nightmare is up to "you", but ignoring the problems and hoping to go back to some past glory days of feel-good liberalism while leaving the status quo makes the second possibility more likely.

Oh, I see it and I see why it is happening. Republican union busting and shipping jobs overseas, as well as the suppression of a living wage has worked wonders for the fat cats and corporations. Automation will be the final knife in the back, so there will be a time when a government sponsorship for the average Joe will be a necessity.
