I saw this article and it brought back some memories.
Vinyl was going strong and every stereo buff had their favorites.
In college a buddy with a killer stereo system used to play this same record and loved it
I didn't really get it other than for the weirdness of it.
It was like listening to voyager's record, interesting once...
But damn, he really enjoyed it.

There was a lot of crazy stuff on records, now I guess all that crazy stuff is on youtube.

I confess I listened to "Several Species of Small Furry Animals..." under the influence a time or two back in the 70's...

BAMBOO: Very interesting read ! CEF : Well done indeed ! Hows about an entire record of furry critters ? ( By the way " Micro Dossing " is back in style ------ there is some excellent synthetic Mescaline out there that will just blow doors ! just saying ....... )

Animals is my favorite Pink Floyd album.

Still listen to it to this day.

Me too. Actually, one of my favorite albums EVER of ANY band.

I've seen Gilmour solo (early 80's), PF minus waters twice (late 80's?), and Waters solo twice. Only Gilmour's solo show had no animals; the others had plenty, and they were damn good live.

Hell, even the CAL band (Classic Albums Live) that plays King Center every summer does a really good job on the full album.

Granted everyone tends to like a certain Floyd favorite , but there are only Three of us on this particular thread ------and " pray tell " what are the odds that I would happenstance to post both of your EXACT same favorite Floyd record ?

I was extremely fortunate to actually see them on this Tour , over in Tampa way back in 1977 . They had a Giant radio remote controlled inflatable Pink Pig that flew over and around the stadium . Anybody on the fourm maybe , attended and can confirm ? ( And ,yes I was indeed " Tripping Balls " on ultra clean " Windowpane ! ) ****https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/pink-floyd/1977/tampa-stadium-tampa-fl-33d76845.html

I just watched Squaring the Circle on Netflix.

Super-interesting documentary about album cover art firm Hipgnosis, who did many of Pink Floyd's album covers, as well as tons of some of the biggest rock albums of the 70's.

Toward the end there's a good segment about the making of the Animals album cover. I think Bamboo, Strummer, and a few other geeks will really dig it.

Cole might enjoy it too for the Sex Pistols' commentary on the whole thing (including the Animals cover).
