Fun show at the New Visions nursery and event place at EGAD last night. Anybody else make it? First time there, pleasant surprise. Donna was awesome as always. Just dance.

That place has to be pretty small. How many were there and how much were tickets? I saw them in St. Pete and at Skipper's in Tampa a few years ago and they drew a pretty big crowd.

I think I remember 300 tickets and I'd guess 200 showed up. Rained during first band, ran off the cowboys but the herd remained. Awesome up close personal show. Can't be beat for $25. Like old times.

DTB has a LOT of members of The Hurd (their fanboys) in the T-Bay and Jacksonville area's. They played Jannus on Sat 6/10.

I have prolly caught more DTB shows/sets than any other single band. Averaged in the 5-6 shows/sets per year range for the last 20 years or so. They always play at 2 music festivals (with several sets per festival) that my crew has always attended for many years.

I saw them at Jannus several years ago. Nice venue, but it is HOT in the summer. Surrounded by brick buildings on three sides, so no breeze. And, the brick courtyard and buildings held (and radiated) the hot sun's heat all night. Would love to be there in the winter, but won't go in the summer again. Enthusiastic following, though, so good for the band and the fans. I have seen them thrice and that was enough. To me, the songs all began to sound the same.

Saw Billy & the Kids in New Awlins in April. That was a helluva good show. The band was freaking AWESOME - Four hours of rocking the house. I followed the Dead since '67 or '68 (first show at Curtis Hixon in '73), but the last show (Tampa, April '95) was shit show with a bunch of drunks just making the scene. So, when Jerry died that was it for me. I figured Further and the Dead and the other iterations would be the same and had no desire to be part of that kind of crowd. But, then I saw Grateful Maholo on youtube and I was sold on Billy & the Kids. My wife surprised me with tickets. The venue only held 2600 and they were like Dead Heads of old, not a bunch of drunks just out for a good time. It took me back 50 years to what the Dead and Dead Heads used to be. There was even room to dance up front by the stage. God, it was GOOD.

True enough. But, you know the joke that goes "What did the only sober guy at the Dead concert say? 'Man, this music sux!'" Kidding! Only Kidding!

I did. Their late Saturday night set was very good and their festival closing set on Sunday was, as always, a great one. They always bring out most of the musicians still in the park to join them. I love ending the music part of the festival weekend with them, leading into a chill Sunday night, before loading up Monday morning and heading back into reality.

They played 2 other sets that weekend (I think) but didn't catch those.

Oh, and random thought from last Friday. Small crowd, easy to get to the stage. Was side stage behind the keyboard player who had, I'm 90% sure, a vintage B3 with the Leslie speaker. Lovely Instrument! Just kinda soaked in that sound for a while. Ahhhhhhh!

Yes, keyboardist Dave McCracken has/plays a B3

For the record, it's "dirty hippy"; and, on reflection, I kinda like these new age retro hippy kids. They wash.

I just listened to some of their tunes. It's get soaked in good weed and sway side to side music.

Not my style, but I can see the attraction.
