Yes slimy saw the several times. Excellent I've seen Allman Bros Band several times in '70 and '71 in Jacksonville Alabama, too. Got in free the first time by helping unload equipment from their van. |

I got all that on vinyl and cassette. Then when Napster came, I got every song I ever wanted and those I didn't.

I absolutely love them. I loved the simplicity and groove. I would also add Strobe Light to this.

My first experience with the B-52s was when they warmed up for the Who at the T-bowl and got severly boo'd off stage with shit thrown up on stage. It was crazy. I liked them back then. WFIT was playing them on the air early 80s.

Oh yeah, the B's were the real deal. In fact, their goofy public image was so successful that a lot of people had no idea just how hard they rocked. As others have noted, "Strobe Light" is a great example of their intensity. I was fortunate to catch the original line-up in their heyday in the early 80's while at college. The show was in our school's basketball gym, an older building which had been constructed during the 50's. The band was on fire and as the show progressed more and more people just cut loose dancing to the driving onslaught the band was throwing out. Higher and higher we went until they dropped "Strobe Light". I was sitting in the front row of the second deck and happened to look down on the crowd. It appeared that everyone was dancing The Pogo. I then realized that they weren't jumping...the stadium was! Looking to the side I saw that both of the two upper decks were bouncing in time to the band's relentless rhythm. The concrete decks were dancing a full 3-4 feet in time to the band! After the song the show was stopped while the band had to ask everyone to calm down. They resumed playing but in a far more subdued manner. That is the only time I have ever seen a band have to pull back for fear of (literally) bringing the house down. ------------------------- Slide On |
