UCF might be looking at UNLV coach Barry Odom. Since no head coach has been mentioned they may be waiting for after the Conference Championship games before announcing.

What if UNLV wins? How a playoff run could change everything for program
By Mike Grimala (contact)

It's almost too much to fathom - UNLV in the College Football Playoff.

UNLV, with all of 10 winning seasons under its belt before Barry Odom arrived two years ago, playing for the national championship of Division I football. Imagine that. The idea would have been laughable for the entirety of the program's existence. Until now.

The No. 20-ranked Scarlet and Gray head into Friday's showdown at Boise State as underdogs, but as evidenced by the 29-25 result when the two teams met just over a month ago, the gap between the No. 10 Broncos and UNLV is not wide.

A UNLV victory in Boise, Idaho, would give the Rebels a Mountain West title - the first in program history - and also launch the Scarlet and Gray into the inaugural 12-team playoff, where they'd grapple with the likes of Notre Dame, Alabama, Penn State and other college football heavyweights for the big trophy.

As difficult as it may be to grasp, it's this close to becoming a reality.

Jax State visits UCF next year.

UNLV possible coaching candidate for UCF, Odom. Plus, don't like boise and that blue turf. Their RB is great though.

Tulane, Classy university, possible coaching candidate for UCF.

Arizona State, Their Running Back is something else. If not familiar with him look up Cameron Skattebo....BEAST MODE 100 percent. NFL for sure.

Ohio vs Miami, meh, don't care. Maybe Ohio, my parents are from Ohio, but Miami is in Ohio also. Torn...not.

Texas, Just like Austin Texas. Georgia has become the hated bama team that no one can beat. Jesus, would have been huge if GaTech won that thriller.

Marshall, old UCF rival. Heard they doing good this year. But, haven't watched all year.

Oregon. Dillon Gabriel, ex UCF Qb. Hated he left. But, wow. Undefeated and ready to win the Big 10 and it all.

SMU. Love the underdog. They've been playing great all year. Kind of flying under the radar but here they are. I've watched a couple of their games. Kind of hard to imagine they are favored over Clemson, but vegas has been paying attention. Me to. Go Ponies!

Rumor is that one of the coaches in tonight's game is UCF next coach. My guess is UNLV Coach Barry Odom. Scott Frost is also interested and presented a case for his return.

I watched all the Boise State game last night. Jeanty is beast mode at RB. They have a great team. I don't know how good UNLV is but they were up against heavy odds on the blue turf and mini noise related penalties set them back.

It will be interesting to see how Boise does in the CFP.

Army rolls over Tulane.

nteresting tidbit:

Jeanty's 2,497 rushing yards and 29 touchdowns are both school records. He trails only Oklahoma State's Barry Sanders (2,628 yards, 1988 season), Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon (2,587, 2014) and UCF's Kevin Smith (2,567, 2007) on the all-time list.

Jeanty will need 132 yards in the College Football Playoff to topple Sanders' record.

He is back! I don't think he forgot how to coach.

Just a side note: I was on Royal Caribbean's 'Voyager of the Seas' last week.

Royal's 'ship board' TV is totally worthless! Watched the Chiefs win but, but, but, , , , , when "The Fans" found out that the 'ship' did not have ABC and the Georgia/Georgia Tech game there damn near was a 'brawl', , , , , and I MEAN IT!! It started with a VERY LOUD; "What The Fuck? You've got to be Fucking kidding me"!!!! And it went way, way, 'downhill' from there! "Uproar" is too nice a term!!!

I otherwise do not 'watch' TV and do not even turn my cabin TV on. I hope to holy heck that they do not have the 'Home Shopping Network'!!!!

But, kinda, , , , "I get it" but, , , , on Royal's Icon and Oasis class ships that have Royal's 'sports bar' Playmakers, , , , to not carry 'ABC" and perhaps a few more channels/networks that carry 'American Football" and other major College/Major League sports! WTF?

And yet, , , , , I would not be surprised if they have a wide selection of Minor League soccer!!??

It was crazy watching the Army team steamroll Tulane. Army's QB has at least tied or beaten the record for most rushing touchdowns. I can't believe that Georgia had another OT game and let Texas beat themselves. Oregaon looks like the real deal and their QB shined. Clemson stole that game and that kick is astounding when you consider how last year they lost their hopes because they didn't have a kicker and Dabo famously refused to go pluck one from the portal. I am happy that Bama is out. They should be.

Oregon's QB used to be UCF's QB.

I watched his puff piece on Gameday where it showed his Dodge minivan. They compared his car choice with the other hot shot quarterbacks driving Lambos and Bentleys. It seems like he believed UCF could not take him where Oregon just did. Maybe he didn't like Malzahn. In hindsight, he seems to have chosen well.
