The SEC is bigger and better than ever for the 2024 college football season. Texas and Oklahoma join to form a 16-team league, adding even more depth and big-time programs to the nation's No. 1 conference. The arrival of the Longhorns and Sooners isn't the only storyline surrounding the SEC, as Alabama begins life after Nick Saban and Georgia begins its quest for a third national title in four seasons.

I see my poor gators getting maybe five wins this year.

The one thing with the Gators is they have the top rated Qb in the nation as a freshman. Dual Threat. The pressure will be on for perfect Qb play. If they have to insert a freshman, as good as advertised, he is still a freshman. I'd like to see the Gators get back on top again. Firing another coach will not help but Napier is on the hot seat with a HUGE buy out clause.

I can see Gators favored in these games: Samford, UCF, Miss State. The others, eh...prob not. Interesting season for the Gators coming up.

I gave them Kentucky but that game is notoriously hard for them. Same with Tennessee. UCF goes to UCF in my opinion.

One thing UCF has going for it is Arkansas Qb transfer KJ Jefferson who beat the gators last year in the swamp.

UCF should be improved. Gators to. UCF won last time, but playing in the Swamp is tough. I'd like to say Miami shouldn't win there first game, but big question mark for them. Improved on paper...but...keep waiting for The U to be back. It's all speculation at this point.

Miami, Sanford, Tennessee Kentucky and maybe seminoles. It's a stretch to be sure. Three games the gators play up for are vols, wildcats and seminoles.

I think losing Etiene to Georgia is a bigger deal than they let on here:

Napier enters the fall, according to BetOnline, as the odds-on favorite to be the first coach fired in major college football. He has an 11-14 record in charge, failed to lead the Gators to a bowl game last year and faces arguably the most daunting schedule in the country.

The season opener is a BIG deal for both The U & UF

Miami is 2.5 point favorites over UF. In the swamp? Shocking. That's going to be an interesting game.

Billy is toast. His team (and mine) looked awful in every facet of the game except punting and kicking. I see absolutely no improvement. On D, UM's receivers were often wide open and the runners busted tackles. On offense, even when he had time (which did seem to be an improvement) Mertz missed open receivers or threw into double coverage and the RBs were largely held up. No qualifications, UM looked good, but UF just looked bad. I always hope a coach works out, for their sake and the team's they deserve it. And, Billy seems like a good guy who truly wants the best for his players in all phases of life, but he is another bust in a line going back to Steve Spurrier. (And, yes I include Meyer in that string, but for different reasons. He was a great coach, but a total a-hole in all other aspects.)

After seeing them (not) play, I have revised. They will win 3 games. That is all. They will play the spoiler for some team that is playing well and they upset a good team, I don't know who. They are terrible. Napier is being left on as the undertaker. That being said, the Seminoles have just lost their two openers to teams that they would have crushed last year. Ukelele sucks, he just isn't a good quarterback and the freshman isn't ready. FSU's line was a mere speed bump for GT and BC. I appreciate that BC has UCF's old QB and that kid can throw and run, but its an ACC mediocre team, and that makes FSU lame. They will be lucky to get a bowl game.

I think the gators are in for multiple years of problems. It starts at the top. Check out what ex-President Sasse was up to. Allegedly, he looted the treasury.

I only hate gators on game day. However, many of their fans are jort wearing, never went to the school (or any school), stupid hicks.

Would they really bring Urban Myer back?

Its Lagway now.

First, let me say that I am a UF alum and have rooted for the Gators since the mid 60s. I remember Steve sitting next to Jerry getting interviewed on one of the Orlando stations (2, 6 or 9) right after he won the Heisman. I loved the 90s and I love Steve Spurrier. I rooted for all the teams and all the coaches. (Although Meyer was a great coach, I never warmed to him. It was obvious he was looking to OSU from the day he got there.) That said, with the exception of the Spurrier years, we always, ALWAYS blew the big one even with some great teams. Dan Jenkins said it best, "The arrogance of Notre Dame and the tradition of Wake Forest". Savor the wins, because they are fleeting. (The Noles might do well to remember that they have been a relative flash in the pan, too.)
