I went through all of the hoops last year to get the "best" coverage with the "lowest" cost. I have a clean driving record and all-of-that but, I was getting 6-month quotes for up to $700. Ended up "negotiating" with a good local agent/National company and got the shit for $369.64. (no liens)

But now, Everybody is increasing their rates (??) and mine went up 28%. Hmmmmmmmm, , , , , but, is still lowest. Everywhere else is "starting" around $500.

Florida SUCKS BIG HAIRY SHIT when it comes to insurance, any insurance.

They gotta make that nut.

In my world all insurance would be public and run at cost plus administration. As it is, your for profit insurance is gambling that they'll take more off you in premiums than they'll pay out.

Agreed, insurance in flori-duh is awful here ...auto or home.

I have ties to other states and insurance is lots cheaper and easier to get than what we go through here.

Beach access is indeed a long assed walk if you are talking ocean but very close if you are talking river, weather is beautiful, and undergrad and grad schools can be very good...primary and high schools not so much.
Skiing, 4 wheeling, fishing, hunting, hiking and camping are literally the best...anywhere.

Progressive revenue for the twelve months ending March 31, 2023 was $52.072B, a 8.26% increase year-over-year. Progressive annual revenue for 2022 was $49.611B, a 4% increase from 2021

Only $52 billion. They look like they are really struggling. Ahhh capitalism. lol

Stiry, , , , , , , , Yep! Welcome to the party, Pal!

Between the "auto" and "home" insurance shit, , , , , everybody is going BSC.

And, , , , , , for others here, , , , , , "annual revenue" does not have the effects on "gross" and "net" profits that you think.

Just because your business DOUBLED does not mean a thing when your "take home" is Zero!

But, in fact, , , , , as Cole should have posted to back his point, , ,:

Progressive annual/quarterly net income history and growth rate from 2010 to 2023. Net income can be defined as company's net profit or loss after all revenues, income items, and expenses have been accounted for.

> Progressive net income for the quarter ending March 31, 2023 was $0.441B, a 43.42% increase year-over-year.

Progressive net income for the twelve months ending March 31, 2023 was $828M, a 61.63% decline year-over-year.

Progressive annual net income for 2022 was $0.695B, a 79.1% decline from 2021.

Progressive annual net income for 2021 was $3.324B, a 41.46% decline from 2020.

Progressive annual net income for 2020 was $5.678B, a 43.98% increase from 2019.

And here I have sat feeling 'bad' about my auto insurance increase while, , , , ,.

My neighbor asked me yesterday how much I pay for auto coverage. "$474 per 6 months, and that's with the latest price increase (was $374). He says "Shit, , , , I'm paying twice that much, , , ,"! Just him with one car.

He has an auto 'loan' and, perhaps more importantly, , , , his Credit Score is very "Low".

Insurance is one industry that should absolutely be socialized. Actuaries are very good at estimating losses, and it could be run for the benefit of everyone at cost plus 10% admin overhead.

Profit motive has no place in insurance. They don't create, they don't innovate, market entry is prohibitive, and all they do is skim off the top and line their pockets at your expense.

Progressive got me with an increase for a parking lot fender bender attribute to me. No ticket but I was listed as V1, that's code for the party at fault.

If you are going to do that, why don't you cut out the middleman. If anything you own gets destroyed or damaged, have the gov't replace it. You'd really cut down on overhead that way. Of course, there would be a notable rise in claims. And the gov't, wanting votes, would pay them, and we'd go broke sooner than we are currently slated for.

Florida will soon be one of the most expensive states to live in, with a lower than average pay scale. Oh joy!

Cole, weirdly enough, Florida's low wage economy (Orlando is similar to Las Vegas that way) is making it almost as unaffordable as California. There's a lot of incoming affluent retirees (baby boom) and Miami is going vertical--I think a 100 story building is on the way, 50 has become almost normal. But the state's population might peak surprisingly soon.
