I've witnessed 6 people I know die needlessly in the past 2 years, including my best friend and now my brother in law.
If you are struggling with depression or addiction, or life in general, I implore you to please reach out to someone. Do what ever you have to do to get the help you need. Somebody does care! Thank you. Not trying to be Debbie Downer, but it's often times the alpha personalities that have the most difficult time reaching out for help and there is no shortage of those in our surfing community.

Very sorry to hear about your BIL.
Sadly, everybody gets touched by this in some fashion. Either as the person who suffers from Alcoholism/Addiction/Depression, as a family member or friend, as an employer or fellow employee, or as an innocent person who is involved with a DUI accident. Suicide is never the right answer. There is always hope and tomorrow is a new day...one that might bring joy and satisfaction and serenity. It can take work but I have seen people who were literally in the pits of despair make that hard call and totally find peace and happiness after admitting they have a problem, reaching out, and doing the work. It really is amazing. Both AA and NA are recognized as being great organizations, and now a lot of their meetings are virtual. https://www.aa.org/ https://www.na.org/meetingsearch/ There are a lot of good counselors and services in the space coast area for people who are suffering from depression. Taking the first step by going through your employeers EAP program, talking to your doctor, or calling a helpline as linked below is a great decision that can change lives. https://www.samhsa.gov/find-help/national-helpline We all have issues, it is just part of being human. There is no shame in getting help. ------------------------- If I should ever die, God forbid, let this be my epitaph: THE ONLY PROOF HE NEEDED FOR THE EXISTENCE OF GOD WAS MUSIC - KV Edited: 04/29/2021 at 05:43 AM by Bamboo |

Yes sorry worksux. Tragic. Hope you are OK.
I lost someone last year where she kept her secrets. The people remaining here are left with questions and feelings that they could have helped or done something different. They (you, me) may need to talk too as a result. |

There is no shame in getting help.
I wish this was taught in school. Six people, what a nightmare. That is a serious load to bear. Grief can be a killer too, so make sure to look out for yourself while you are helping others through the process. ------------------------- I was right. |
