I was looking at a kind of similar novelty wave yesterday in the Palm BEach inlet. Much heavier, no sand but coming from the south and peeling on the south side of the north jetty. Also, I learned that my buddy is also a Ben Gravy fan, which he keeps on the down low and I think thats funny.

I have surfed the inside of the canaveral jetty, maybe around '70.
Still in touch with 3 other guys who were there.
Never heard of it before or since.
Never got to surf santa barbara sandspit when it was on, but.......when it was That Big, a dozen other cool little points came alive......and perfect, and verrry rare
Ledbetters, Devereaux, Campus Point....(and even better: poles!)
Inside el cap, Sharks Point, Inside Hammonds reef point, Pitas, little rincon.........inside ventura point!!!!
jeez, if its that big, camp at lowly beautiful refugio beach and rock!
but, definitely an uncommon "novelty wave" thang for that to happen......now

I do know a person here who surfed inside the tide pool at Sebastian during Betsy.

The inside of the port was packed during David, and novelty is the correct word. It was like trying to surf up hill.

I was right.

Several years back surfed the SI Tidal Pool with the kids when they were little, before the sorta recent dredging of that place. I think the conditions were strong onshores with some good size local power chop that was making it through the inlet and at just the right time & tide there were ankle high peelers in the tidal pool, super fun for the kids but barely rideable for me. And then it was gone. Fun while it lasted. One of my kids was using a little canoe paddle to SUP my LB. That was back when they were small enough to bowride with me on a wave, ala human Go-Pro....good times.

Way-back-when, when the swell size and direction, along with the wind direction, , , , , inside of the port was always the place I planned to be. Well, I got a quick eyeball at Gulf Station and then drove straight to the Port. Some classic days, , ,
