Brent is a reliable, professional videographer onshore and sometimes in the water.

Sage (I forget his last name) is busy. If you watch carefully, there's bodysurfers (and maybe a few bodyboarders seeking their boards) in the water, almost all getting mushed.

At 31, there's a brief look at the lifeguard tower. Yellow flag. Same system as Florida; Newport Beach has the same flag color for all its lifeguard stands, so the Wedge can be a weird outlier.

Looked at Surfline, Palm Sun 12:30 our time. The Newport Jetties area has good surf and a crowd in the water. Yesterday, browsing the Wedge, a lifeguard boat picked up someone 11:35 am, then another at 11:45 their time (Fred Simpson paddleout).

More videos. The one from Where is Harald is interesting toward the end. It's the paddleout (or more accurately swim-out) for Fred Simpson, creator of the Viper swim fin. It was scheduled for 11 am

That SUP session hasn't been much repeated. There's still a bit of kneeboarding, haven't seen any significant mat surfing. It's a magnet for bodyboards, so there's excellent video footage. Video of idiots with a rented jet ski crashing it on the jetty is still being watched. On the bodysurfing side, Mark Drewelow, an about 60 year old operator of a service business for big yachts (which led to Yacht Aid, a small but very helpful nonprofit charity) and coach of the US bodysurfing team (there is such a thing), died recently of a heart attack.

It's surprising that Dingo, an accomplished and apparently busy & versatile videographer, was on hand. Word about the sea lion may have spread fast. CNN's story is sort of long, but it's a matter of a normally healthy environment having a bloom of a diatom, Pseudo-nitzschia that produces domoic acid, a neurotoxin. California has monitoring, but I'm hard put to see anything unusual about this year.
