As much as we may hate it, , , , , THIS could very well be the New Normal !!! Already a CAT2 this morning. Forecast to be a CAT4 when it hits the islands.

And, Chris is right behind it and is trending to become a Major within days. The "Southern" islands look to be Fucked, even before the "real season" starts!

Hurricane Beryl, super-charged by warm seas, stuns experts

Dinah Voyles Pulver, USA TODAY
Sat, June 29, 2024 at 6:00 PM EDT5 min read

Hurricane experts and meteorologists watched in shock Saturday as Tropical Storm Beryl continued to strengthen quickly in the tropical Atlantic Ocean far earlier than storms typically do, with record-warm ocean temperatures helping it make history.

Within 24 hours after forming as a tropical depression, Beryl's winds had reached hurricane strength - 75 mph - by 5 p.m. Saturday, with an impressive form on satellite images.

For surfing potential, I imagine we gonna suffer Bahama Blockage, but swell period models show possible sharp angle SSE long period in a few days. Look North of the Cape up to Hatteras.

These fast ones are the worrisome ones. Potential for little time to prep then evacuate. Realistically, two days is pretty short notice. Be aware. Ugh.

As usual, it's hard for folks to understand that you can hide from the wind but, you must run from the water.

And, much more so, It's hard to explain to 'newbies' that you only gots what you gots for perhaps weeks!

And, yes, , , , the whole 'electric can opener' thing is too real.

The one that hit Mexico went from a tropical storm to a Cat 5 within 24 hours. It's not normal in the least.

Global Warming doesn't give a shit about your politics.

It's the strongest storm on record so early in the season. Admittedly records improved quite a bit in the satellite era, but 19th century records are surprisingly good, and have been reviewed. NHC Beryl graphics

It's good to have the rocketmath club aboard. Keep up the good work! . In other news, NAVGEM persists with a northern turn into LA towards next weekend.

5am Tuesday.

Maximum sustained winds remain near 165 mph (270 km/h) with higher
gusts. Beryl is a category 5 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson
Hurricane Wind Scale. Weakening should begin later today, but Beryl
is still expected to be near major hurricane intensity as its moves
into the central Caribbean and passes near Jamaica on Wednesday
and the Cayman Islands on Thursday. Additional weakening is
expected thereafter, though Beryl is forecast to remain a hurricane
in the northwestern Caribbean.

It would be nice if it was that simple.

I guess we will eventually learn the truth when we figure out how to measure CO2 and learn how to shoot in elevations.
