The Brevard County School Board meeting last night discussed this at length.

People who really care were there. 

Our Congressmen were there.

A school in Callisburg, Texas has had some armed teachers for over 4 years with no incidents. Nobody knows exactly who they are as they don't show their weapons nor are they allowed to tell anyone. This was done intent for safety and to keep any assailants guessing.


The teacher in your article really shouldn't be waving a gun around in class, even if it is for a safety class. At least he discharged it into the ceiling while checking if it was loaded. This wouldn't have happened in the setup at Callisburg where it is executed well with controls in place.


Your article doesn't prove it is a bad idea, it only proves that it 'might' be a bad idea if implemented moronically.

You are using examples of random idiots discharging a firearm in a classroom in an uncontrolled and unstructured environment as your reasoning for arguing that it would not work well within a controlled and structured environment such as what Callisburg has implemented. That is imbecilic.

Not only that, even if we get many of these gun control measures passed at a federal level and/or passed at the state level and/or actually enforced by the states in question, we will STILL have more guns in this country than people and the schools will STILL be unprotected.

How about implementing reasonable gun control to help with the future AND implementing something similar to Callisburg to help now?

I couldn't make the meeting last night, but I heard that after hearing almost unanimous opposition, the School Board still wanted to consider it.

They're so scared of the NRA fuelled outrage if they don't promote an ever more armed population. Hey, I think my kids are walking out of Satellite High as we speak.
