Willie cancelled due to flu for the Space Coast Seafood festival and this is remake date. We went to the seafood fest and you probably can see Willie from outside the gate if don't want to pay for ticket. Its in an open field.

First saw Willie in 1973-ish at The Armadillo World Headquarters in Austin. We were down from Ft. Hood for the day just hanging out and drinking beer here-and-there around town. We were not there for any special reason. So, we were drinking and having a good time so they let us keep our place when the show started. Willie, who we had never heard of, was the opening act. He was "OK" and when he was done the main act started. Some band we had never heard of with a funky name that was something like XYZ, , , , no it was ZZ something! LOL!! ZZ was still self promoting their Tres Hombres album. WE had had enough beer for the time and decided to leave to get some food in the middle of Top's set. Went down the street and walked into a good looking spot to eat, some guy named Van Morrison was on stage. Weird day and night.

Austin is such a cool music paradise. We visited SXSW a couple years ago and it was similar to what you describe. Every unknown band trying to make it and get noticed but in the same vein playing for the love of music and stoked to be playing in front of 5 or 5,000 people.
What an honor that Willie is playing in Brevard. I can remember sitting in the back of my Dad's car in the 70s and being forced to listen to old school country. My dad gave me a Willie CD in college and never really appreciated it until I got older. Was a punk rocker in college. But, I always appreciated the story telling in the songs. Song structure to me makes me barf as I really do not like country western music. However, few C&W artist I do like and Willie is one of them. An outlaw at age 84. Hope I get to go tomorrow night. don't have tix. May just lurk outside the fence or buy a cheaper GA ticket. |

Being at Ft. Hood with a bunch of Texas cowboys gave me an appreciation of both kinds of music, , , , Country and Western.
Wish I was still working at the place I was in 2014. One day the girl/lady/woman I worked with got a call on her cell, ", , , , I've got to go. I'll see you tomorrow, , , ,". OK, later. She was going to meet her old friend who was coming off of 95 in his bus to stop for a late lunch on his way down to Miami. So, the next day she gave me a full report. She got there before he did, so she's sitting there waiting when she sees Hank Jr. walking in with David Allan Coe. Hmmmmm, where's, , , , Oh here he comes! Willie!, , , , hugs, kisses, and such. She was his neighbor for many years. After lots of food and drink, Willie settled up and he and the boys left. My co-worker remained to finish up her last drink. The waitress asked her who those old, weird, cowboys thought they were! The waitress damn near died!!! LOL ------------------------- Dora Hates You Edited: 03/02/2018 at 11:52 AM by dingpatch |
