I looked it up just for fun: Sec. 78-112. - Water activity. No person shall swim, ski, dive, surf, scuba, fish or use boats in any area in any park, recreational facility, or department managed lands unless such area is specifically designated for such purpose. (Ord. No. 08-12, ยง 28, 4-22-08) Looks like they've got everything covered... https://library.municode.com/f...V2PEVIPRCO_S78-112WAAC

Not a county park. Jetty Park is managed by the Canaveral Port Authority - so ultimately, the commissioners could weigh in to adjust alter the rule. Guessing the decision was made at a lower level, but if it's a big concern to the surf community, could be elevated to commission level.

So has this rule been on the books and they're only now enforcing it, or is it a new regulation? Was it in response to some sort of incident or something? In my opinion, proximity to the jetty there isn't as important as it is at NSB or SBI, but nevertheless...and totally concur on kooks being the problem. I renewed my annual pass the day before this post!

Fall season will be here soon enough. Not so many visitors then. I don't understand the sudden crackdown. In the old days we used to just blow them off , and just go out and continue to ignore them. What are they gonna do arrest me?? I surfed with the guards several times in the past. Oops, shouldn't have said that..
