I spotted the story at the NY Times and figured ABC would have it. Then went to the doc's office for a routine blood drawing and mentioned the story. The phlebotomist knew all about amphipods. New Zealand is kind of nice. Some plants want you to stay around and of course they've got volcanoes and earthquakes, and you can disappear into the earth in some of the limestone terrain. |

Update from ABC. Amphipods swarm dead fish, so the kid might have been close to a swarm. ". . . they are generally not out there waiting to attack like piranhas" |

Yea.... I would definitely MUCH rather get nipped by a small/medium shark around here. The pics and videos give me the creeps |
