I don't believe the majority of Americans want a national program to give legal status for illegal aliens.

Likely true, but the issues surrounding it are thorny. A pragmatic solution will chafe, unfortunately.

I do believe that a majority would like to see a path to legal status for those who have been here long term, work, are not criminals.
