The Faux actors and actresses will say whatever the GOP big money backers desire, hence the Trump hit job at debate #1.
Roger Ailes is told what the network should say, then he has a daily meeting advising the supporting cast of same. Every day is the same, the table is set by Faux and Frauds in the morning, continues until Shep Smith actually reports facts, then back to the Ailes/GOP script until the next day. I have come to the conclusion that Faux is a stumbling block to a republican candidate getting elected president. Voters know they are a joke. |

Given the talk time per candidate, can anyone argue that poor moderation is allowing the media to pick candidates for us?
Republican Debate #1 Trump: 11:14 Bush: 8:48 Kasich: 6:52 Rubio: 6:49 Carson: 6:46 Cruz: 6:46 Huckabee: 6:42 Christie: 6:24 Walker: 5:45 Paul: 5:28 Republican Debate #2 Trump: 18:47 Bush: 15:48 Fiorina: 13:30 Carson: 12:56 Christie: 12:36 Rubio: 11:21 Cruz: 10:45 Paul: 10:28 Kasich: 9:44 Huckabee: 9:20 Walker: 8:29 Democrat Debate #1 Clinton: 30 min 25 sec Sanders: 27 min 41 sec O'Malley: 17 min 08 sec Webb: 15 min 20 sec Chafee: 9 min 05 sec If the sound-proof booth idea doesn't get implemented, we try a soccer-style "injury time" rule instead: When the normal debate is over, there is a short break, during which the total talk time each candidate has had so far is tallied. Then, each candidate who has had less time than the max, gets the difference in time to say whatever he/she wants, and make it even. e.g., For last night, Sanders would get another 2:44, O'Malley would get another 13:17, etc... Although I'd rather bash my skull than listen to O'Malley (Mr. Rogers) for another 13 minutes, I think that would not only enforce more fairness in the moderation, but encourage the candidates to be a lot more strategically prudent with their interruptions. Most of you people are pretty much retarded.
What would you actually "lie" about when critiquing a debate? It will virtually all be opinion and if you see opinions that differ from yours as being "lies" then go back and read my first statement in this post. The fact that no one really went after Hillary for her private email or really anything else tells me they understand that they don't have a chance in hell of winning and just want more recognition, which they received. If it were me, I would probably want to get the hard questions out of the way before getting to the main event but I didn't see Hillary wanting to address much of what she will be hammered on. She also stumbled over her answers on some questions that I thought she would have had prepared statements locked and loaded. I also thought it was funny how she stared down her opponents, with lazer focus, while all of them were talking. It was like someone told her that when they are talking that she is supposed to stare at them, like she is trying to stare through them, with an extremely pained smile on her face. I like that the guy from Curb Your Enthusiasm is running for President. That's pretty awesome. I actually don't mind Bernie but I doubt I would vote for him. I also thought it was interesting when the guy all the way to the right, with the really long neck and small head, was cut off by Anderson Cooper when he tried to bring up the fact that Obama has armed Syria, essentially arming ISIS in the process, and that we recently bombed hospitals and weddings. I think Webb and the former governor of Maryland came out on top last night. ------------------------- "The government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul," - George Bernard Shaw “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f—k things up.” - Barack Obama “End of quote. This is truly funny stuff. You think Grandma and Grandpa are itching to be asked any hard questions? You think Hillary and Bernie are just dying to be part of a debate hosted by Fox but Fox is scared to hold the debate? LOL! Jesus. You actually think Hillary wants to be asked questions like Fox asked Donald Trump and Jeb Bush in the first debate? The correct answer is: HELL NO. The less Grandma talks, the better off she is. ------------------------- "The government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul," - George Bernard Shaw “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f—k things up.” - Barack Obama “End of quote. Hillary Clinton debate tactics 101: When you find yourself trying to answer a troublesome question and you don't really have a good answer, respond by talking about your vagina:
COOPER: That's right. Secretary Clinton, Governor O'Malley says the presidency is not a crown to be passed back and forth between two royal families. This year has been the year of the outsider in politics, just ask Bernie Sanders. Why should Democrats embrace an insider like yourself? CLINTON: Well, I can't think of anything more of an outsider than electing the first woman president, but I'm not just running because I would be the first woman president. COOPER: Secretary Clinton, how would you not be a third term of President Obama? CLINTON: Well, I think that's pretty obvious. I think being the first woman president would be quite a change from the presidents we've had up until this point, including President Obama. I'm surprised many of you are so quiet today. The Paul Krugmans, bloggers, and columnists must be taking longer than usual telling you what to think. I sure am glad that she felt the need to clarify for everyone that President Obama does NOT have a vagina. She could have even taken it one step further and added that she isn't half black either ------------------------- "The government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul," - George Bernard Shaw “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f—k things up.” - Barack Obama “End of quote. I didn't really see her having a great night. She didn't answer any hard questions directly. She refused to respond to some questions at all and the other questions that people wanted answers to, she answered by saying that she has a vagina. Everyone on stage agreed to ignore talking about actions she has taken with her email and matters of national intelligence which would have gotten any of us fired or jail time. Bernie did alright but the fact that he didn't go after Clinton directly lets me know that he has already thrown in the town and so has everyone else on that stage. They aren't seeking the Democrat nominee for President. They want a VP spot, cabinet position, or something else. I think she did okay at best. It will be interesting to see how she does in less friendly territory. ------------------------- "The government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul," - George Bernard Shaw “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f—k things up.” - Barack Obama “End of quote. The ratings for your the Democrat debate was half of what the Republicans have had in either of their first two debates.
I'm sure many Democrats tuned into the Republican debates to see what was going on but that would also mean that many Democrats did not tune into the Democrat debate because there was a lack of interest. There is a direct correlation between interest and excitement around the candidates, or lack there of, and the ratings. Say what you want about the Republicans but Bernie has no chance. Even Bernie understands he has no chance. ------------------------- "The government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul," - George Bernard Shaw “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f—k things up.” - Barack Obama “End of quote. I watched most the the R debate too, it was like driving past a big accident on the highway.
Why do the R's always complaint about deficits and ask who's going to pay for social programs and benefits, but never about the cost of military interventions and build ups? Trump says he will be "great at the military" and make us so strong no one will challenge us. We already use like half of the budget on military and you guys cheer. Talk about public education and you guys look like the guy at the bar who forgot his wallet. ------------------------- “It is the heart of US policy to use fascism to preserve capitalism while claiming to be saving democracy from communism “ - Michael Parenti |

We already use like half of the budget on military and you guys cheer. Half the discretionary budget, but only 17% of mandatory spending: https://www.nationalpriorities...l-budget-101/spending/ It is dominated by the well-known earned-benefit programs Social Security and Medicare. It also includes widely used safety net programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP, formerly food stamps), and a significant amount of federal spending on transportation, among other things. |

Why do we make kids waste all that time in school if it is really the money that makes them smart? Why not just let them spend all day in a playground made of money? I'm sure that our educational rankings in the world have nothing to do with the strong family units in the leading countries and the fact that the leading countries instill work ethics that are hardly seen here. Our education problem is a cultural problem, not a monetary one. Asia tops biggest global school rankings U.S. education spending tops global list, study shows ------------------------- "The government who robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul," - George Bernard Shaw “Don’t underestimate Joe’s ability to f—k things up.” - Barack Obama “End of quote. Besides, there is tax revenue earmarked for a lot of that 60%.
Just think if we spent that defense money on education. We would crush the world. That defense money is a SUBSIDY.
For post-high school programs, the United States is far outspent in public dollars. U.S. taxpayers picked up 36 cents of every dollar spent on college and vocational training programs. Families and private sources picked up the balance. Not to mention that the money in primary education is concentrated at the top schools. Ever play "make it, take it" basketball? Those games end quickly. Of course, you really don't want to cut defense spending. Or you just want that part of the budget to go away. BTW, it's not the work ethic in Europe, it's the emphasis on learning. We have an anti-intellectual streak in this country (cheater5.0 hates the "book-smart"). Since you are one that does not believe in AGW you are a part of that. ------------------------- Wiki wiki |

We have an anti-intellectual streak in this country Unfortunately, the US employment market contributes to that with their focus on immediate, applicable skills over an ability to learn and contribute over the long term. A lot of students are responding to employers' need for instant gratification in the only employable manner available. It's all disposable. |

Aspects to that:
1) I was correcting / clarifying Rusty's claim of "half"; 2) Our defense engineers are a lot more expensive than those in other developed nations; 3) We spend a lot of money defending other developed nations But yeah, it would be nice if a bunch of that defense money went to education, in ways that don't spend it inefficiently. |
