Fall is one component of a star-studded 2015 recruiting haul that also includes Deltona power forward Chad Brown and Daytona State small forward Tanksley Efianayi. Winter Haven guard Chance McSpadden is expected to sign Thursday. It's a group that some believe can be considered a top 25 class nationally.

The article seems to make me think he has never played basketball and was picked for his height. Is he any good?

He is from Senegal. Only been in States for two years. Played b-ball for two years for a school near Mount Dora. Yes, picked for height. Supposedly he is athletic. There are youtube vids. But, he will be a work in progress. at 7'6" I imagine the motor skills are not all there. But, maybe with a div 1a training program he will be good. Had offers to some other prestigious bball schools. I hope he is good. UCF bbal has the opportunity to get better. Next year they have a lot of good signees coming. Coach Donnie Jones is a great recruiter. He built the gators up while he was there and won back-to-back National champs. We will see...

it will be interesting. Tune in next year when he is a freshman.

VIDEO: 7-foot-6 Tacko Fall starts season with triple-double

That's amazing that is all it takes is to have an unusual physical trait. Suprising to me, my oversized nose or big feet haven't gotten me any offers.

That USA Today video was like watching the movie Teen Wolf. The rest of the team is standing on the sidelines eating hot dogs while the lone player keeps getting the ball to Tacko.

LOL. yup. 7'6" is tall. If he makes it to the NBA he will be the tallest player in the league. UCF signed a really good class. Can't wait for 2015! (always next year).

I don't know if any one else would agree with my opinion because I don't play basketball, but I don't find his playing exciting. To me it just seemed like the older kid in highschool who got held back playing against the smaller, younger kids under him. It didn't even look like any of the players on either team wer trying. Maybe it's because he's so tall they didn't think they even had a chance, but the game just didn't appear to have any NBA or college level playing in it. All I saw were dunks and shots right next to the basket. Simply put, their playing looked to be lacking a bit of technical skills. Then again, I don't play ball and have no skills of my own so I could be completely wrong with my observations on this one.

...and is a dunk really all that exciting to watch when the player doesn't even have to jump to make one?

yea .... the other squad was completely over matched, but what you could tell from the vid was:

- he has good hands (catches the entry & fast break pass well )
- showed good feel for where the ball will come off the rim on rebounds
- ran the floor well
- showed good timing on blocks and blocked with both hands
- kept the ball high and went right up (shows he listens to and learns when coached)
- showed good form on free throws

His overall strength and conditioning will be tested at the next level and will no doubt need to improve ... but he dif showed great promise (as shown by the list of D1 schools that were interested) Nice signing for UCF

UCF needs to improve in B-ball. We have some good signees coming in next year (there is always next year!).

2014 UCF b-ball isn't going to win very many games. But, super young. Starting two freshman guards. Then in 2015 with the influx of more talent...hopefully, knock on wood, we improve.

Coach Donnie Jones is a great recruiter, but my overall impresssion that he isn't so much a good game day coach. The jury is still out.

2014 don't expect much. maybe a conference win or two
2015 expect huge improvement but still mid-tier conference
2016 Move up to upper echelon of conference play and possibly make the tourny.

By then we would have joined the Big 12! LOL...Knock on wood.

For this 7'6" dude, I get the feeling that everyone is gonna want to slam dunk on him to get more posterized vids like above. The guy better toughen up!

Here is another recent video of Tacko Fall

7-foot-6 Tacko Fall leads Orlando Liberty Christian over Lakewood 77-70 (w/ video)

ST. PETERSBURG - From the moment Orlando Liberty Christian Prep's Tacko Fall ducked his head to emerge from the locker room, he was the main attraction.

should make things more exciting than our football season has been...

anyone see the articles about O'leary continuing to get paid $200K in a consulting role for maybe 1 hour's worth of work?

linkage

Report: UCF will pay former coach George O'Leary $200k till March 2020

an amendment was added to O'Leary's contract in April 2014 that allowed O'Leary to remain on the payroll until March 15, 2020. O'Leary's liaison role requires him to work no more than 12 hours with the athletic department in any one year.

O'Leary could have earned up to $235,000 a year until 2020 had he stayed on as interim athletic director.

Hmmm... $235K/year for a stressful full-time job, or $200K/year for putting in 12 hours as a suggestion-maker.

Anything wrong with this in the context of state/government-sponsored public education?

The reason O'leary is still getting paid is because after the 2013 fiesta bowl win he wanted to retire. However, the school wanted him to stay a couple more years to help in transitioning to another coach. He agreed to stay but the school didn't have enough money to pay him. So, he deferred his payments out to 2020. Which was smart for him to do as now he is in a lower tax bracket. It helped UCF keep him for 2014, and of course 2015 is the disaster.

Yeah for Tacko fall! First game saturday.

fyi, Tacko Fall started for UCF last night against Davidson. UCF came close but lost. Davidson returns 7 of their 8 top scorers from last year's NCAA tournament team.

Fyi, UCF isn't a world beater yet in basketball and we beat an undersized Stetson last night (The hatters played great though), just wanted to say
Tacko Fall had his best game of his early career. 23 points, 12 rebounds, 3 blocks. It turns out he is really good. Runs the floor just as fast as the guards, and hustles, dives to the ground for loose balls and looks to be improving with each game.

UCF basketball season is done with a stupid lose in the conference tourney to that worst team in conf, Tulane.

UCF fired Basketball coach Donnie Jones immediately after.

Yeah...Hopefully this new AD Danny White has great basketball coach connections. He should. His brother is head coach with the Gators and his Dad is AD at Duke.

Thus, Tacko Fall will be under new coaching regime next year.

Tacko played great the final four games. He has really improved throughout the year.

2017 update. March Madness. UCF makes the post season for first time in 5 years. Finished 21-11 Seeded 4th place in conference. Made it to the conference semi-final game and lost to eventual winner SMU.

Tacko Fall won defensive conference player of the year. He really changes the game up on defense. His offense skills are so-so. I think he owns the best shooting percentage in NCAA. All he does is dunk. Imagine that... But, defense he really blocks a lot of shots and alters the shooters shot. So, he has been effective in that!

#4 seed in NIT tourny. Game Wednesday @UCF 7pm vs Colorado.

Tix only 15 bucks. ESPN3 if can't make it. Hope we win. Go Knights!

I went to the game last night. UCF beat Colorado in first round of NIT. Colorado missed a three point attempt with 3 seconds to go to put the game in OT. Close and hard fought game. UCF winds 79-74. Next game Monday night @Illinois State.

Next game Wednesday night at UCF. Woot! Tix already on sale. 15 to 20 bucks.

Johnny Dawkins has proven to be a great hire at coach! Unprecedented UCF basketball success. The team looks to be even better next year with returnees and transfers sitting out this year, including Johnny Dawkins son.

UCF arena last night was the first time ever sold out for a basketball game 10,000+.

UCF picked a very bad time to shoot the ball very badly, as in couldn't hit water from the boat.

Still a very successful first year for the team and coach Dawkins.

UCF up at half by 2, then TCU came out on fire...the rest is history.

Proud of UCF. Gonna be better next year. We had 5 players sitting this year out that could have started. We lose our a couple seniors. But, Tacko should be back along with our point guard. The future is bright. Hopefully we make the NCAA tourny next year.

Well, it is safe to say that UCF gave TCU a better game. TCU wins the NIT. They more than likely will be in the NCAA next year also. They are pretty good team.
