I may have to agree this one time with Sean. Everything about that contest seemed forced-fed. There were so many commercial breaks that I thought I was watching an NFL game. The surfers looked bored sitting out there waiting for their heats to start. It was kinda cool to see the barrel/turn/air combo JW and others would do, but thats about it.

This contest is so lame, repetitive, weak, and against all that surfing is, if Andy Irons was at the side of the pool, he'd be raging, drunk and naked tossing beer bottles at surfers in their heats!!! In fact, I can't wait to hear Bruce's take on this!!! I'd rather drink beer, sweat balls, and watch the groms final at 1' NKF!!!

Actually, surfing contests are against all that surfing it.

Money is drying up in the retail surf industry and the world tour is dropping contests left and right. The sport of surfing has to evolve or die. Wave pools might just be what turns it all around.

Here is a basic trick, if you don't like it, don't watch it.

I enjoyed watching perfect overhead waves, with open face ripping, barrel sections, air sections, another barrel or high speed air section going down.... With the best in the world tearing it up!!! Could be boring at times, ocean is too sometimes. But 45second perfect, Skate Park like waves, sure seem fun to this Florida boy!!

Similar to a Skate park or Snowy downhill run..... no soul but SO fun, just sayin`

Was out there for Founder's Cup and the wave itself is quite a wonder/spectacle. Surfing was high level. That being said, by Finals day on Sunday, was a little bored with the predictability of the wave and carbon copy approach. Nothing will replace Mother Nature but a little less perfection or some variation and I don't mean lefts and rights would make it more interesting to watch. Especially after a couple hours of webcast

I'm already burned out on watching wave pool surfing.

So is pro surfing over now because of this? LOL
