I haven't been in awhile but I remember having a great time body surfing that wave and riding it in to 3 foot of water and looking back at all the tourists who were wondering who the hell just sucker punched me.

It's still there and still the same.  I went a few months back and split a peak with Lopey, his first wave back from injury and he ripped it, me not so much but I got second place in that heat.

This is too good to go unrecognized.

I've had my fill, but I like the water park. What are they going to do with it?

There was a time back in 2ndlights heyday that groups would post on here with open slots and forumers could jump in. I surfed it a few times that way- now you never hear about sessions there with openings.

I assume you mean closed for the season?

The shark reef is under construction as we speak changin to a flume style ride i believe. Uncle (been there 33 years) says they are talking about a full revamp of its 2 remaining water parks.

I just don't understand why they couldn't just combine the Shark Reef attraction project with the typoon lagoon wave. What better way to give it a more natural feel.

Disney's got a huge pile of attractions and hotels that need tending and replacement/refurbishment, while Universal has lots of cash available from its parent company, NBC Universal, which is owned by Comcast.

Disney is valued @ ~150 billion. NBC is ~30 billion. Comcast was just purchased for ~72 billion.

I don't think disney has any issues getting their hands on cash.

I just went with a group of mostly firefighters a couple weeks ago. Same setup as it was years ago. You can play your own music if you bring a device with an auxiliary cord. Staff was friendly and the engineer/tech running the waves was asking us for feedback as the session went on, he had it dialed in.

Paddleout - I remember that, great times. I met as many forumers through the 'goon as I did at the plant sales and barbecues back then.

I too remember a "Goon" session that Mr. Paddle out had organized back in like '03 or something. It was a great time! Made some new surf buds and met some fellow 2ndlighters.. Great times had by all!

Had a pretty fun session at the goon, I believe the lefts are better than rights(regular foot so no bias).

Hard to figure out what sequence of maneuvers work best to match the timing of the wave, but local rippers and now Jax transplants Jimmy Walker, and Charlie Broughton put on a clinic on their logs getting some sick rides... the life guard said it was her first time seeing someone actually "hang ten"!

Hope to add some of the gopro footy, all in all, super fun but idk if I will be back anytime soon
