I may go get on the "treadmill" after work. I hit it Tuesday at HT and felt like I was just getting hosed in the face the entire time.

Just go, I did with a friend last night and it was FUNNNN!!! Big drops and powerful walls, breaking way out and really giving you a workout to make the paddle BUT once your on the outside some really big walls were coming through, felt goods to look DOWN the face on the drop, as in "Wow this wave is actually fairly tall, the bottom is way down there" Get in just for the big drops, the drop in reminded me of places outside of the East Coast.

The drift was what you would expect but on the walk back up we were treated with watching B. Hewwy killing it on a long left, one of the only few others that made the paddle out , did see one guy doing the walk of shame...

Ahhh, phone msg still says Nov 5th, but that is concerning the campground.

Website does clarify a bit...

.... JETTY PARK BEACH WILL BE REOPENING. 7:00am-7:00pm October 15th and October 16th.

Brevard County Residents will have FREE ADMISSION. The fishing pier and camp ground will remain closed.

Sat....wind block (hopefully)
probably with 100 of my best friends.
or the 'ol standby, the pier.

I watched a long left sweep behind Coconuts. It looked really fun, then a real set came in and switched it back to looking like work.

Saw the same in Satellite this afternoon.

Some nice breaking, semi-peeling waves with what looked like a relatively
easy paddle out, ...
...then the sets came, breaking much further out, big sets almost closing out.

There was no one out where I checked, at the time I checked,
but I estimated the big sets to be well overhead.

I decided not to attempt the paddle out,
but I'm old and much more conservative now.

I want the wind break, or light off-shore winds with waist high clean glassy peeling waves.
Lefts or rights, either would be fine.

Surfed some very big chunks this morning. Semi clean sets well overhead. Far from impossible but a real workout and adrenaline producers for sure.

NORTH (north) Cocoa Beach was the call this morning. Like I could see the Jetty from where I surfed. Drift not bad and easy paddle out. Really fun chunksters in the chest + range with some bigger sets. Being a solid, thick ground swell, the wind didn't mess with it until like 10:30. Very worth doing. Super fun rights but the lefts were the longest.

Hey. Where are we going? (And what are we doing in a hand-basket?)

Course with the swell going to 6 sec this morning (it was 11 when I was surfing) and a different wind sit not sure we have a re-play scenario for Saturday.

I work at the resort next to Jetty Park and can check the surf from the upper floors. Yesterday was not bad up there during certain tides.

Some days, it is a plus to catch those swells when it is unruly southwards but mainly you see days of fun small waves and you know the cape is blocking out something that is better some place else.

Pros and cons.

No. Swell didn't go to 6s, that was the wind chop. There is 13 and 11s period swell on the 2.

Might be time for a buoy reading lesson again.

I did.

It was exactly the way Tiptime The Wavecaster described it.

Probably better suited for a younger guy with a shortboard,
than for this old man on a 9 footer, but I caught waves,
I was selective though,
and thought it was better at the higher tide.
Tomorrow, earlier.

Damn, I was wondering why so many surfers were there this morning.
Must have been the LGBTQ community.
I thought it was the clean glassy chest + waves
that were there early this morning.
It didn't last too long, but it sure was fun for at least an hour.

Guess I was in the wrong spot with all "those type of surfers"
Who woulda thought lol.
Friendly smiles instead of aggro attitudes.

Just a quick reflection on the pier. It's amazing to me that the old structure survived Matthew. Sets were breaking way outside so I got a good look at it. The good news: for now the fisherman 'seem' to be out of our hair. The only part of the pier that appears damaged is the fishing hut. Lots of the roof missing and it was all closed up yesterday. With the moderate but persistent drift south not having to deal with all those fishing lines was nice.

I only surf the pier when I have to - when it's the best place working the swell. Took the fish out and DEF feel the work-out this morning. Do a little of that a few times a week and we get to stay in shape for the next swell.

I never understand why pier fisherpeople cast way out into the sand desert when the fish are right under their feet.

Lagoon, I couldn't agree more with paddling several times a week. It makes all the difference in the world.
