We are planning a benefit for Matt on November 8th at Cafe Surfinista from 6:30-9:30pm. There will be music by the Aquanuts. We will have a raffle for a vintage longboard as well as several other things. We would like to do a live auction for a longboard and short board if anyone would like to donate one. Also if you would like to donate any other raffle items, we would appreciate it. I will post more info in the next few weeks. 321-537-2045 Also, for all you golfers, Certon is planning a benefit golf tournament for Matt. Stay tuned for more info.

Thank you surftech, we look forward to supporting the Nov 8th event as well.

Entry into the golf tournament will be available to 2ndlight forum members prior to the public in appreciation for all your "Good Karma to Matt Bellina".

Matt will be attending the golf tournament for anyone who is interested in meeting an amazing person that has done so much for the local surf community and is a true "2ndlighter".

Is there a PayPal account or mailing address to send donations for us out-of-towners?

I can't speak for surftech, but we will have a PayItSquare account available online for both the event registration and donations that will go directly to a fund we've set up for Matt Bellina.  I'll be providing those details as soon as tomorrow stay tuned...

I could (maybe) do that..
..not much of a golfer though.

Clubs?... do they rent them?
Caddy? I need someone to tell me what club to use!! Do they rent them too??

We need 4 ?
Freesurfs??

How many mulligans can we buy, or get?

Is this gonna be one of those
"you have to chug a quart of beer before you tee off at each hole"???

Sunrise....

I have an extra set of clubs you can use

On your own for a caddy

Lots of mulligans available for sale with all money going directly to Matt

You don't "have to" but we'll have kegs and coolers on the course for anyone who "wants to"...

Is there a facebook page set up for this? Or, any of the local surf sights have facebook pages with information regarding Matt's benefit? Thanks

We will be setting everything up in the next few weeks. I will keep everyone informed. Sunrise, I would caddy for you but unfortunately, the golf tournament is the same weekend as Women of the Waves.

Yes, lots of events but none more important than the ones for Matt. The donations are starting to come in. So far, a vintage board, a handplane, and another board. Please keep them coming. Thanks.

CERTON ...

.... yes I KNOW she is a busy busy 'girl'
(although I do remember a day in May of 2013 when she was idle for 2hrs and 23 minutes
- I think she sat on the couch without moving)

Yes, she does a LOT for so many and is always willing to step up to the ... tee.
(except in this case due to a worthy prior commitment)

I doubt I will find another worthwhile caddy.

OK Burry .......... it's YOUR turn to step up to the TEE!!
(....and when I say tee, I don't mean tea. Ain't no crumpets on this course)

Don't pull a Double Bogey on me and tell me you're just resting,
while you're lying somewhere in the bunker and can't find your ball.
When you get OLD you can rest.

No Fat Shots, no Flat Swings.
A Floater in this case, does not mean you are on the Top of the Wave.

Follow-through and tee up.

If you need a Paddle Grip, let me know. (It's not the same as paddling a board.)

"FORE" does not mean you get four tries to hit that little white speck 'tween your legs!!

I accept...I'm in.
Be forewarned, I am doing this without the benefit of having
the best caddy who is not available.

Remember.... don't yell if you hit a Son-in-Law. It may not be what you wanted but it'll do.

Also...don't pull a Rock Hudson by saying you thought it was straight but it wasn't.

I'm sure this will turn out good. We're gonna be hittin' that little white ball with the Sweet Spot

And that's NOT a BEACH ....it's a Sand Bunker !!!

We need TWO more right???

If our scores aren't that great, we'll just head towards the Nineteenth Hole.

Lets get this thing going
Dan the Mulligan Man

"Ready Golf"

(we might have another opening though ...maybe,
so let your desires be known!!)

....and I invited K11 via twitter to be a part of our foursome.
We got a ringer!!

(he hasn't responded yet, but I'll be his caddy if he does)

Wow, what a great read Sunrise!  I have limited access these days from remote locations of CR so I just read the posts... We're already seeing support from all over with donations and sponsors/players lining up for the event, so THANK YOU!!!

Matt and his family are truly appreciative and this could turn into a memorable 2ndlight gathering for the history books in support of a true 2ndlighter as he fights to get back in the water... Were you there?!

We are booked!! and (almost) ready to tee off...

.... just need clubs, ball, cart, caddy, clothes, shoes and hat. I think that'll do it.
Ohh yeah ...some tees and an umbrella.

Anybody else out there that think they can hit a 'lil white ball half as well as they
paddle and surf?? Think you're better than our group??
You know, we might have a ringer...

Time to Step up to the PLATE ... tee.

I'm thinking 3 clubs for me...

... a driver, a 5 or 7 iron, and
a putter (just in case I get on the green)

Any more clubs than that and I have to make a decision (which would probably be wrong)
This way I can always use the excuse - "that's all I have"

A lot easier to carry too. Will I even need a golf bag?

Ohh, and 3 doz golf balls should do it.
I'll never find white balls in all that white sand and I'm not going in the water with those crocs!!

We're "hi-jacking" surftech's thread, but I'm gonna buy raffle tickets on the Eventbrite site AND
at Cafe Surfinista on Nov 8th.

Green Latern, I sent you a PM.  You can stop by too see the board if you want.  The raffle will be up soon.  It's my fault for not getting the PICS.  I haven't been home during daylight hours to take them.  My uncle(surfer sensei) will let us know when the raffle is running.

Thank you to all the folks at the CBSM.  I'll volunteer to help whatever you need.  I haven't had time to take pictures of the Hansen for the raffle, but my Aunt and Uncle will set up the raffle when I finally get them PICS of the board.

greetings and many thank you s to everyone who has been interested in helping out matt.
i have surfed and worked with matt for many many years now doing the watermans challenge
annually and hes always been there for everyone including myself .

-now the latest good news

millennium foam's local rep todd frazier has stepped up and donated a really nice high end longboard blank
that i am going to shape for the live auction longboard . i also secured future fin and box from bill kerwin of future fins florida.
and i chatted yesterday with the legendary pinline guru chris birch about doing some one of a kind resin pinlines..
the board is going to be a classic poly noserider style board with all the bells and whistles kinda similar to a
takayama "in the pink" with full laminated color ,gloss and resin pinlines etc... a true work of art high end board.
i would like to see it raise some serious money for bellina's benifit.
if i was retailing this board as a custom order it would start around $1,000.00+ range
so tell all your friends to be there . thanks and keep getting better day by day matt !

Thanks to Dan (handplane) and Dingpatch (fin) and all those who have donated raffle items for this event. Don't forget to buy your raffle ticket for the vintage longboard (thanks, Andy) and bring money to the event to bid on the NuWave SUP (thanks Dave and Rick) and the beautiful longboard (thanks Keith at 321Surfboards).

quick update on Matt B for all the 2ndlight supporters.... he finally got to see his son for a couple hours recently, he sat up on his own for 15 seconds, and he ate dinner at the table with his family last night using a fork!  he's been doing his PT every day and making great progress.  still has his sense of humor too cuz when I sent him pics of me surfing Windansea he responded, "...that wasn't very nice!".

If you have your 'Friends of Matt B' shirts, wear them.  Any shirts ordered at the golf event should be here in time as well.

Final total raised from golf event and donations = $11,037

We hung out with Matt and family last night and he's come a long way with daily PT.  Help keep him on the path to a full recovery with your continued support...  he's making great progress and will be seeing his son Jack on a regular basis now for even more motivation

Mahalo to whomever is responsible for that decision...!!!

Let's keep the support going for Matt B. he needs it and is putting everyone's thoughtful generosity to great use in his recovery effort.  The vibe of his whole family is one of appreciation and positivity and his progress resonates it.

Awesome, Keith! Just the right dimensions for me! Toby just donated a skateboard and wetsuit and Janell Organics just donated some skin care products. We have lots of good raffle items. Matt plans on being there so come out and say hello.
