I'm 6'4 and all the board shorts I try on are way above the knee. Are they supposed to be like that? Any brands make a board short that is longer than others? Even the 22"s dont fit. Thanks

Hey im 6'3 and have that same problem! What i do is buy long gym shorts, tie the drawstrings tight and surf in that. Jordans do the trick for me

Patagonia made a "Twenty-Threes Wavefarer board short, but it's discontinued.  You might a few still for sale.

Otherwise, 22 inches seems the longest available.

I'm 6'3"... I can never find shorts short enough! Long short (at or below knee) make tall people look even taller and then it looks like your wearing your dads board shorts.

You can always tell people that don't surf alot by 1 - when they wear boxers under their board shorts 2 - long board shorts. Long shorts always rub your knee raw when you surf in them for extended periods of time.

Amen brothers! When you find some post then up here. I laughed when I first saw the original quicksilver shorts ad. I thought if I wear those somebody is going to think wilt chamberlain is taking up surfing...

I am confused. Is this about surfing, or fashion?

Surfing, OK. But fashion, has no place in surfing.

Baggies that hang below the knee are a hinderance to true performance.

Thanks for the input. I mean were tall but we arent 7'. Im suprised some of the brands dont make even just a few. They make tall versions for wetsuits, so why not boardshorts.

I agree. I wear most of mine just above the knee. But the ones I just ordered seem tiny and almost prevent me from doing a full range of movement.

Go stretchy or at least go functional.  Thanks to losing weight, I've been making use of online clearance sales and have had some interesting shorts coming into the house.

I've been using Patagonia's non-stretch Wavefarer, Minimalist, and Light & Variable.  Wavefarer is good for surfing, L&V for bodysurfing and swimming.  They've come out with a nice Stretch Wavefarer and a couple more expensive stretchies with lighter-weight fabric.  Of course finding a deal isn't easy.

The high-end Hurley and Billabong shorts are out of sci-fi.  A pair of much-discounted Billabong PlatinumX shorts has seams that are fused, not sewn, and wetsuit-style reinforcing patches.  Should be worn on Star Trek.  Quiksilver has cut a lot of weight from its fancier stretch shorts.  A Quiksilver Waterman stretch pair felt good in the water today.

Hey guys! 6'2 here and wear a 14-15" inseam. Which is 24-25" outseam. I like my shorts to ride just below the knee.

Like you guys....I struggled for a long time to find longer boardshorts. Then I got fed up with it and decided to get technical!!! Got the measuring tape out!

I custom order all my shorts now from a place called boardshort world. There's a few companies online that make good boardshorts to your exact specifications.

I'll warn you before hard. Measure accurately because these things are expensive, but IMO well worth it. Completely customizable though and the only way to go for guys 6'1 - 7'0.

My last pair costs 84.99.

Here's a link. They are out of SoCal:

Just wear some grape smugglers and be done with it, they are 0". If I didn't know better I'd have thought I was on a women's fashion blog.

John John baggies by Hurley are some of the longest I've seen in years.

I like the longer shorts at least to the top or mid knee. If it gets too short, I've got three reasons that fall out of one of my legs.

Shopping is at least easier this season. Everyone seems to offer many lengths, prominently labeled.

I'm 6'0' and the volcom mod-tech have also been working for me for the past couple of years. I hate short trunks and skinny jeans!
