This last summer we planted a mango and avocado tree that we purchased from Rockledge Gardens. I just noticed the other day that my mango has several shoots that I assume will flower and then turn into mangoes. However, this is a very young plant and I've read that you should not let this go to fruit yet. Should I just cut off these shoots or should I let this flower?

It's out of season for flowering.  Best bet is nothing will come of those flowers and the little tree will resume growth in spring.  Looks like it's off to a good start.

The photo is a good demonstration of a major benefit of grafting.  The root system is from a seedling, and is still juvenile.  The graft, which is a known variety, is mature and more or less ready to grow fruit as soon as there's enough plant to grow flowers.

Yes, let the fruit form and then simply tear off when they are about pea size. Cut them too early and they can resprout flowers. That thing needs to grow a little more before it can support fruit!
