Come join us on? a tour of the palm and cycad collection led by Eric Schmidt.?Leu Gardens?has approximately 375 species of palms and 65 species of cycads in the collection. About 125 species have been planted in the last 5 years or so (since the last CFPACS meeting there in January, 2003). In the afternoon we will meet at Gordon and Pat Smith?s who began planting palms at their Maitland property 44 years ago for our auction and plant sale.

It looks like we are going. I haven't seen Gordon almost since we went to his place last time. (which was before John became the editor) I also have a couple of people asking me to bring them fertilizer in the bag since I have shut down selling it in jugs and the cost of shipping of a 50 pound bag is prohibitive, so I will be bringing some with me. It sounds like it doesn't cost to get into Leu if you are CFPACS members, so it sounds like a good chance to check it out again. The camelias should be pretty nice this time of year too. Should be a good meeting.

I'm likely to come. Eric has done a great job of managing and expanding Leu's valuable camellia collection and applying the same expertise to everything else. Not to mention that he regularly posts photos from palm-sighting expeditions around Orlando at Palmtalk. So the opportunity to tour the palm and cycad collection with him is a big deal.

One of my camelias is in full bloom currently!

Looks like a cold front is going to come through on Saturday morning with a line of showers. It might be cold on the other side of the front. Don't forget a jacket!

camelia late blooms were still showing. Azaelas were in full bloom. Roses were cut back so bad time for them. spring bulbs were starting to come out. Alligators were still hibernating.
